“That explains last night, but what about when Lydia was sick? She needed all of her pack with her.” He continued the interrogation.
“I didn’t want to make her uncomfortable. She’s nervous around me, and I’ve been waiting for her to get comfortable with my presence.” I told him honestly.
“But you like her, right?” He asked, gauging my expression. Like her? I was entranced by her. Not in the same way I was with Gabriel. With Gabriel, I wanted to feel and experience his body, heart, and soul. I wanted him with a zeal I’d never experienced before. Lydia was a goddess of beauty. I wanted to watch her, make her smile, be comfortable, and relax in my presence. I wanted her to let go with me the same way I wanted to dominate the brattiness out of Gabriel.
“It’s not love yet, but it’s certainly more than like,” I said simply. Gabriel relaxed at my words.
“Good.” He breathed, “Though you should probably talk to her soon, or a misunderstanding might happen.” He explained. I hummed, considering his words. I leaned back with a grin at the idea that popped into my head.
“Maybe you can get Sorren and Finn to take you out one day, so Lydia and I can talk,” I suggested. Gabriel’s expression brightened.
“That is an excellent idea.” Gabriel agreed. I could see his brain already working with ideas. “Oh, but before that.” He stopped pacing to look at me with a wicked grin. He stalked toward me, which had me pushing back my chair in anticipation. He stopped, his legs touching my knees. He bent down, pressing his right hand on my cheek. I curled my hands into fists, not wanting to take control just yet. His thumb slid lightly against my cheek as he looked into my eyes. The flirty, cheeky Gabriel had disappeared, and what appeared in his place was passionate and sensual. His head came closer to mine, leaving a feather-light kiss on my lips. My hands moved, wanting more, but Gabriel stepped out of my reach before I could touch him. He skipped away as I growled at him to come back.
“That’s what you get for not coming to the nest.” He said in a singsong tone. He skipped to the door.
“Oh no, you don’t,” I called darkly before bolting out of my chair. Anticipation entered Gabriel's eyes, then he took off. I ran after him. Sorren and Finn watched Gabriel run past them with wide eyes. I briefly glanced at them before running down the hallway toward the bedrooms. I could hear them laughing at our antics. Lydia must still be asleep since she wasn’t with them. By now, the omegas should know the layout of all the rooms, including ours.
By the time I entered the hallway, Gabriel had disappeared into one of the doors. Sorren, Finn, and I usually didn’t enter each other's rooms unless we needed one another for something. I didn’t think he’d go to the room Lydia and he shared. The last couple of rooms were the shared bathroom and my bedroom. I wanted to make this last, so I started with the bathroom. I yelled out a few times, letting Gabriel know I was getting close to him wherever he was. Finding the bathroom empty, I headed to my bedroom next. I noticed my door cracked open. I usually left it open or shut depending on my mood, but nevercracked. A predatory glean filled me as I walked into the room, and it smelled like Gabriel.
I took a deep breath, focusing on the vanilla and fresh bread scent and where it came from. My eyes zoned in on my closet. My room had a walk-in closet, and there was plenty of room for a male omega to hide in. I made my footsteps heavy, letting Gabriel hear where I was walking.
“Where are you, little omega?” I asked in a carefree tone. I walked around my room aimlessly. I could smell Gabriel’s scent get heavier with my words.
“If you don’t come out soon. I’ll find you.” I continued, heading towards my closet. My impatience getting ahead of me. I slid the closet door open slowly. I walked into the small space and examined the room. I didn’t see Gabriel outright, but his smell was so potent in this space that I knew he was there. I went deeper into the room and started looking through the clothes. I had gotten halfway through my short sleeves when Gabriel popped out. His lips crashed into mine. He kissed me hard and deep. My hands went to his waist, holding him against me. Gabriel’s hands went to my hair, pulling me closer to him.
Gabriel pushed me back, fighting for dominance while we kissed. Before I knew it, we were out of the closet and heading toward my bed. I turned us around and pushed Gabriel onto the bed. I took a moment to gather my breath and stare at the gorgeous man in my bed before climbing over him. He watched me with heat and eagerness. I reclaimed his lips, and our battle for dominance continued. Our hands slid over and under our clothes, and we felt each other's warmth and skin. We nipped and licked each other with abandon for what felt like forever before we finally pulled apart. Indignation burned in his eyes as I stopped my hands. He tried to move against me, but the weight of my body held him down. I wanted to tease this man till all he could think about was me, on him, next to him, in him. I need him to imagine what it would be like and be driven crazy in anticipation when I finally let him have what he wants. I wanted him to beg for it, plead with me to fuck him till he and I were satisfied.
“I’m wining and dining you, omega, before we go any further,” I said as I placed my hand around his neck. His scent thickened, letting me know he liked what I was doing. Gabriel tried wiggling against me again to create friction between us. My hand tightened around his neck, halting his actions. A half moan and whimper emerged from Gabriel.
“What a tease.” Gabriel breathed out. He relaxed under my grip, which caused me to preen at the trust he placed in me. I chuckled at his words.
“Trust me, not tasting you or having you is killing me just as much as it is you,” I reassured him, my hand moving from his neck to his hair. I fell on the side of the bed and stroked a few strands from his face. Gabriel closed his eyes at my touch.
“We could always continue.” He urged me on. His hand slid sensually up and down my chest.
“Mmm, but I like making you wait,” I said, bringing his hand to my lips and kissing it. He huffed and pulled his hand away.
“I’ll fight at every step.” Gabriel sighed as he moved to rest his head against me. Yesterday had taken a lot out of him, so I wasn’t surprised when he fell asleep in my arms. I didn’t last much longer. My exhaustion from not sleeping the night before and Gabriel’s scent and warmth had me also closing my eyes.
Chapter 10
Lydia
A few days have passed since Gabriel’s encounter with Brett and Logan. He had been plagued with nightmares. Sorren, Finn, or I have woken him out of it whenever one of us was around to help. He’s also been clingier with me than normal, as well. I think the event made him realize how close he was to losing me. I didn’t mind if he needed to cling to me to feel safe and reassured. He could for however long he needed to do it.
For me, mentally, I was doing terribly. I was sick to my stomach seeing how they treated Gabriel. I knew when they cheated on me that they weren’t my happy ending, but I didn’t think they were this spoiled. Looking back on my time with them, I should have noticed all the little things that were red flags. Telling waitresses to redo their plates if they weren’t cooked perfectly, getting mad at someone for bumping into them, and not understanding my needs. Everything seemed so obvious now.
“I’m not interested.” I heard Gabriel mumble from above my head. He and I were having a lazy morning going in and out of sleep. The alphas were out of the house for work, so it was just the two of us. “I told you to let me go!” He yelled out, flailing his arms to push against whatever was attacking him in his dreams. I had to move out of the way before he accidentally hit me.
“Gabriel honey, it’s a dream! Wake up.” I said to him, grabbing his arms to stop him from hurting himself. I embraced him and rubbed my hands along his back to try and soothe him. “It’s going to be okay. I’m here. I’ve got you.” I repeated to him over and over again. I started purring hoping the vibrations would help.
“Lydia?” I heard Gabriel call out. Tears filled my eyes. It was hard seeing him like this. I could only imagine what it must have been like for him when I had my nightmares.
“It’s me, baby. I’m here.” I told him. I squeezed my arms tighter letting him know it was me. He pushed his head into the crook of my neck and breathed deeply. I could hear soft sobs coming from him.
“I had a dream that I was back on the street, but this time Sorren and Finn didn’t get there in time. They took me, Lydia! I was so scared.” He sobbed out. My smiley happy omega was scared because of my scent matches. I felt anunimaginable guilt at that fact, but I pushed those feelings away and focused on Gabriel.
“It’s all going to be okay now. Neither I nor anyone in this pack will let something happen to you. I’ve got you. We are in this together.” I told him. I believed that with all my heart. I pushed feelings of confidence, love, and certainty in the bond hoping Gabriel would feel how serious I was about this. His sobs lightened and he finally looked at me with a soft smile.
