“Same. I hope none of the kids witnessed their dad going all bloodthirsty,” I say, and he laughs.

“You know it’s inevitable, right? This is our life, but I think we need a security booth, and a decision needs to be made soon about someone being in charge of the kids,” he says, and he’s right; we’ve been putting it off for too long and the more power we come into, the more dangerous it is for all of us, but I need to know they are all safe above the rest of us.

“I know, Babyboy. I wonder how the safe room worked out since we changed it from my weapons room,” I say.

“I’m sure everything is fine. Jamie wouldn’t lie about the kids being okay,” he says, and I nod because, once again, I know he’s right.

“Alright, well, wake me when we get home. I’m exhausted.” I yawn and he laughs.

“Will do, Babygirl. Rest. We will be home soon,” he says as he turns the music up. I rest my head against the window, watching the trees go by, wishing Dario was here with us. My eyes get heavy as sleep takes over, giving me the chance to dream about the man I miss the most every single fucking day.

Chapter 14

Blackouts & A Blood Slut

Jameson

My breathing is erratic as my heart beats through my ears with every swing I take, sinking the dagger into warm flesh as the enemy's blood coats my fingers. My mind whirls with excitement as Ryder and I take on these motherfuckers trying to infiltrate our home. We work together with precision and grace, almost like a dance as we move around the hallway and kitchen, making sure the safe room in the hall closet stays untouched.

When the alarms blared through the house, we knew we had five minutes or less to get the kids into the bomb proof room and grab as many weapons from the safe as we could. Ryder got the kids situated as I grabbed two duffels, loading them with as many knives, guns, ammo, grenades, and smoke bombs as I could because I didn’t know who was coming nor how many, but knowing where Jade and Reid were going, I should’ve been more prepared.

“Or you could just die already.”

“You’re your own worst enemy, Little Boy Blue.”

“He will figure it out soon enough.”

I shake my head to rid the voices, gritting my teeth at their words. Maybe if I just learn to ignore them and not feed into their taunts, they might go away.

“Fat chance of that happening.”

“Your own conscience won’t let you.”

“He’ll lose them all soon enough. He’s Father’s favorite puppet.”

I grit my teeth hard as I sink the dagger into the man’s neck as someone comes from behind, hitting me in my temple, causing me to lose focus and stumble for a moment as Ryder’s silencer goes off, sending bullets around me. I shake my head again trying to regain my focus, but the room spins as I stumble, causing my vision to go black.

Grabbing on to the foyer table, my mind whirls with snippets of a figure rolling out from beneath a car holding wire cutters in his hand, but I can’t make out who the person is then the vision goes stark white, blinding me as my ears ring. I feel blood coating my fingers as the liquid drips around the handle of the dagger. I twist, hearing a gasp as blood sprays against my face.

Removing the dagger, my vision finally clears and lands on the front door, where a man is on his knees holding his neck, choking. I spin the dagger in my hand only for the person to look up at me as I approach. Stopping in my tracks, I see Dario reaching out for me.What the fuck is happening? This isn’t real.

Then my vision goes black, yet again, as I feel the ground sink from underneath me, and I see a flash of a figure grinning on the phone as someone sits behind a desk, getting his dick sucked by the secretary only to break her neck while finishing all over her dead face. Bile rises in my throat as my vision spins again, thrusting me into the present, and with wide eyes, I find myself standing in front of the safe door as Ryder screams my name. I turn to look at him sinisterly as he points a gun at my head. I blink once, twice, three times before I realize what is going on and immediately drop the dagger. The metal clatters against the wood floor as I turn to him with my hands up.What the fuck just happened? Did I black out again?

“What happened? Did I black out?” I growl, and he cocks the gun.

“Is that what that was?” he asks and I nod.

“I was here one moment, and the next I was blind. What happened?” I ask as my shaky hands remain in the air.

“Well, you slaughtered most of these men, and then you removed that guy's heart while speaking in a language and voice I've never heard before, but it's what you said after that made me pull my piece out,” he says, and my eyes go wide.

“What did I say?” I ask, taking a step closer to him.

“You kept repeating ‘I’m going to kill the children. I’m Daddy’s perfect puppet.’ Then you stood up and started trying to open the safe door, and now, here we are.” He confesses and I fall to my knees, putting my head in my hands, pulling my hair as I scream. What the fuck is happening? It’s only recently that these blackouts are becoming a problem and happening more frequently. What have I done?

Looking up at Ryder, still pointing the gun at my head, as tears fall down my face.

“I’d never hurt my children. Do you hear me?” I growl as he lowers his weapon, nodding. “Words, Ryder,” I command.
