“After they put me in a body bag, someone intercepted the ambulance. I was taken, and last night I woke up in somehospital to a man I’ve never seen before, giving me a shot of adrenaline to get me back here to Ireland.”

“Holy shit. Well, when your truck blew up, I was in the house getting ready for bath time with Little Man. When I went outside and saw you were down, I didn’t know if you were dead or alive, but I had to do something. I went back inside, grabbed one of Jay's injectables from under the Bible on the foyer table, and injected it while Jay and Jade were busy. Plus, I felt your heart soaring underneath my fingers, so I knew we were going to be okay even if you needed some surgery because, fuck, brother… your face and hand were jacked,” he says, reminding me of the pain I felt being burnt alive.

“Yea, well, I’m unrecognizable now. The only things that give me away are my eyes and the tattoos on my chest. Otherwise, Dario Roselli is dead,” I spit, looking at myself in the mirror.

“This wasn’t part of the fucking plan. Ri. How the fuck did this happen? We have no leads as to who put the bomb in your truck, but our suspicions point to—”

“Marsela’s family,” I interrupt as I walk back towards the bed.

“Yep. Watching Jade mourn you is ripping me to shreds. I’ve never seen her so down and lost. I really hope this is fucking worth it.” He sighs.

“I fucking miss her. I want to fucking come home. You don’t know how bad I want to call her to just hear her fucking voice. This is fucking bullshit!” I growl into the phone, slamming my fists against the dresser as I stare out the window, seeing nothing but a maze of green shrubs.

“I know you do. We all miss you too,” he says as I take a deep breath.

“How’s our son? Oh, before I forget. Keep an eye on Monty! He’s the one who killed all those innocent people in Russia. I don’t know his angle, but he’s dangerous,” I tell him.

“He’s doing okay. He definitely asks where you are, and we tried to explain the best we could that you are gone, but I’m not sure he understands.”

“Fuck, did we fucking consider how this shit would affect the kids? No, we didn’t. This makes me feel like a fucking monster for putting everyone through this,” I yell.

“Ri, blame the fucking Aces because, as usual, we are paying for the sins of our fathers. Don’t be so hard on yourself. It will be fine,” he says, but I’m not so convinced.

“Hey, Spade?” I say.

“Yea, Ri?”

“Make sure every day you tell her how much I loved her and make her cum for me. I need to know weekly that she’s being satisfied like she deserves,” I demand, and he laughs.

“Daddy Spade, here I come,” he jokes, and I growl.

“You know damn well she only has one daddy in this lifetime and that's me. Go do that shit with Ryder,” I tell him, and we both laugh.

“He’s my biker bitch! Just the way I like it,” he says, and I can hear the grin spreading across his face.

“I miss you, brother. Keep our wife safe, and let me know the minute she goes into labor. Please, Reid. I can't be there, but please ensure my presence is felt.”

“Don’t worry Ri, I got you. You won’t miss anything,” he reassures me. “Alright, I gotta go. Keep each other updated. Okay?” he says, and I sigh.

“Yea, brother. Stay safe. You hear me,” I grit.

“Yea, yea. I’ll be safe, just for you, Daddy,” he laughs as the line goes dead. I shake my head, sitting on my new bed, before placing my head in my hands. A sudden knock at my door takes me out of my thoughts as Kane enters my space.

“Rise and shine, Lad. It’s time for a workout. Get suited up and meet me in the basement. Take the elevator to the bottom floor. It will open right up to the gym,” he orders, and I nod.

“Be there in a few,” I tell him. I could really use this time to strengthen my muscles and kick some Irish ass.

Worst Day Of My Life

Two months later…

Sparring in the ring with Tiernan, he jabs me in the chest as I sweep his legs out for the fourth time today. Flynn has appointed me to get these soldiers fight ready over the last two months because he saw how skilled I am in the ring. He even set me up with a couple of underground fights that won us both a pretty penny. I just keep adding it to the duffel bag in my room, so when I can finally go home, I’ll put it in a trust for the kids and buy Jade another house or whatever she wants. I don’t care if it’s an island for us, just as long as it brings her happiness.

He gets up, putting his fists up, ready to go again, as a bunch of the others watch from the rope. I dance lightly on my feet, circling my prey, as I lay a light jab against his temple, causing him to growl and curse in his native tongue.

“Tá tú ró-mhall,” I tell him as he growls again while a crowd forms around us.
