“Hell yeah. My mama hopped on the right dick and got me set for life. I’m happy that you didn’t have no babies, so I don’t have to share my fortune,” Cam winked.

“And I can see that it runs in the family. If I’m not mistaken, your girlfriend Demi is married too. I hope you’re smarter than your mother was and don’t expect her to leave her husband for someone like you,” Amy replied.

She remembered briefly being in Demi’s office a few times and seeing the pictures of her and her husband on her desk. Demi was a smart girl, and Amy liked her. She would be a fool to throw her life and career away by being with Cam.

“Someone like me. You mean the half-black, illegitimate son of your late husband who’s paid out the ass. Now, why would she do something like that?” Cam laughed.

“No matter how much money you have, you’re still low-level trash with an extensive criminal record. That’s all you were back then and that’s all you’ll ever be,” Amy fumed.

“Fuck you, bitch. Keep talking shit and I’ll make my grandpa fire your ugly ass. After all, I am the one and only Blaire grandchild. You might want to be nicer to me,” Cam smirked as he blew her a kiss.

He watched as Amy’s complexion changed to a bright shade of red, before she turned and walked away. Cam locked his new car up and headed back inside. He was about to enjoy his lunch with his grandparents, but he was gonna enjoy fucking with Amy most of all.

“Cam! You’re never gonna guess what happened today!” Demi shouted excitedly when he answered the phone.

“What’s up baby?” Cam replied.

“I got moved to a new office. It’s not just any office Cam; it’s one of the best ones in the building. It’s huge and it overlooks the lake. It even has a private bathroom inside, so I don’t have to use the public one anymore. I can’t wait to decorate it!” Demi yelled happily.

“That’s what’s up. Congrats baby,” Cam replied.

“Wait a minute. Did you do this Cam?” Demi asked him.

“Did I do what?” Cam inquired.

“Did you talk to your grandfather about moving me to a new office?” Demi questioned.

“What? Hell no, Demi. Aside from him inviting you to dinner, your name was never even mentioned,” Cam assured her.

“Oh, well, I don’t care if you did or not. I’m happy as hell about it,” Demi replied.

“You want to go grab something to eat when you get off?” Cam asked her.

“Yeah, we can do that. What are you doing now?” Demi inquired.

“I’m on my way to my mama’s house to play handyman. She got new shower heads for her bathrooms and some other stuff that she needs me to do,” Cam replied.

“Okay, well, I have a conference call in a minute, so I’ll talk to you later,” Demi said before they disconnected.

Cam left his shop for a while to help his mother, but Kobe was capable of running the show. Business was better than he thought it would be and Cam needed a few more employees. He was still having a hard time adjusting to being a boss. Cam had been in jail so much that he was used to taking orders from others. Now, people depended on him to tell them what to do. He was struggling with that, but Kobe loved it.

“Ma!” Cam yelled when he entered his mother’s home.

“Hey baby,” Nora said when she walked out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel.

“What are you cooking?” Cam asked her. The aroma had his stomach growling and he was happy that he came over.

“Shrimp stew with potato salad. It’ll be done by the time you finish doing what I need you to do,” Nora replied.

Cam thought he was just coming over to do a little light work, but Nora had him sweating. He changed the shower heads in all three of her bathrooms, hung curtains, waxed floors, and a few other jobs that she didn’t feel like doing herself. He was starving by the time he finished and he devoured the two plates of food that she had fixed for him. Cam sent Demi a text to cancel their dinner plans because he was already full. Nora had a huge pot of food and Cam had plans to take some of it home.

“Hook me up a container to go. It’s gonna go to waste anyway,” Cam said as he stretched out on her sofa and flipped through the channels on the television.

“No, it’s not. I made enough to give you and my sisters some. I’ll put enough in your container for Demi too,” Nora said, shocking her son.

“How do you know about Demi?” Cam asked her. He and Demi had never met each other’s parents and they had never discussed when it would happen.
