“She was there. Her husband’s cousin is the groom,” Nora replied.
“Oh, but I’m sorry Ma. I’ll send you some pictures, so you can see how nice your boy cleans up,” Cam joked.
“Okay, send them now Camden. I’m going put them up on Facebook,” Nora replied.
“I told you to stop putting my pictures up for everybody to see,” Cam said.
“And I told you that I’m grown. Go have fun and tell Demi that I said hello,” Nora said before she hung up.
Cam and Demi had finally met each other’s parents. He had a gathering at his house when he moved, and Demi’s mother and her boyfriend attended. Demi finally made up her mind to move in with him, after he bribed her with the hot tub that he had installed. Asha got on her nerves, but they were good for the most part. Cam loved her being there, but it bothered him that they had never made things official. It wasn’t a roommate situation like they originally discussed. He and Demi slept in the same bed every single night. They shared space like a couple, but it was never determined what they were to each other. He referred to Demi as his girl to other people, but that had just become a habit.
“I hope I don’t have to lay hand on this stalking bitch tonight,” Demi said, referring to Courtney.
“What kind of ghetto ass attorney are you? Always talking about fighting and shit,” Cam said as he grabbed her hand and rejoined the reception guests.
He and Demi were both in need of a drink, so he went to the bar while she sat down at their table. The line for the bar was long, but Cam didn’t mind.
“It looks like she’s happy. Good dick will do it every time. You smell just like her too,” Courtney said as she snuck up behind Cam.
“Get the fuck on Courtney. I don’t need your husband coming over here on no bullshit. I’m not trying to ruin my girl’s sister’s wedding,” Cam replied.
“Oh, so she’s your girl now,” Courtney commented.
“Chill out Courtney. I thought you said fuck me and my friendship,” Cam reminded her.
“I was wrong Cam and I apologize. We were friends for too many years for us not to even speak at all. You don’t even answer my calls anymore,” Courtney noted.
“That’s because I don’t have time for the drama Courtney. You know I don’t do all that arguing and shit. I want us to remain friends, but all the extra is a no go,” Cam informed her.
“I understand Cam and I have to respect that,” Courtney replied.
“I would give you a hug since we squashed our beef, but I don’t want to have to put your husband to sleep again,” Cam laughed.
“Yeah, and your girl is looking like she’s ready to fight,” Courtney said, making Cam look over at Demi and blow her a kiss.
“Yes bitch, that nigga is fine as hell. He better stop blowing kisses before I think he’s blowing them at me,” Savoy said as she took a seat next to Demi.
“Go find your husband and leave my man alone,” Demi replied with a roll of her eyes.
She hadn’t been around Savoy for a minute and that proved to be just what she needed. She was going through too much and she didn’t need the negativity in her life. Demi’s sisters had met Cam, but Savoy’s first time seeing him was when they had practice two days before. She flirted with him in a sly way, but Demi shut her all the way down.
“Bitch, you can’t talk about me no more. I’m not the only one with a husband and a nigga on the side,” Savoy chuckled sarcastically.
“I’m nothing like you, honey. Kamari and I are not together, not that it’s any of your business,” Demi snapped.
“What’s with the attitude?” Savoy asked her cousin.
“I don’t have an attitude. I just don’t have time for your negativity. Keep your comments and opinions to yourself and we’re good,” Demi replied, right as Cam walked back over.
“Please don’t make me have to cut you and that bitch,” Demi whispered to him with a loving smile.
“Calm down bride of chucky. It’s not even like that. She was just apologizing for what she said the last time we talked,” Cam informed her.
“I know that you’ve been knowing her for a while and I don’t have a problem with y’all being friends. She just needs to know that her benefits card has expired,” Demi noted.
“That’s already been understood. I’m not into playing games and I told you that. And you can’t get in your feelings about nothing anyway. Like seriously Demi, what are we doing here?” Cam asked, ready to get some understanding about the nature of their relationship.
Demi was about to answer, until Savoy jumped up and threw her purse and phone on her lap.
