“You promise?” Malia asked him.
“Yes, I promise,” he replied as he kissed her lips and headed to the bathroom that connected to their bedroom.
He made the same promise all the time, but that was good enough for Malia. She smiled as she got comfortable in the bed, preparing to take a nap. She barely got any sleep because she was up calling Roman’s phone all night. It wasn’t his first time sleeping out, but it had started to happen more frequently. Malia hated to be on his back so much, but that was just disrespectful. She had never stayed out all night since they had been together, and she wanted the same respect.
“Roman!” Malia yelled after trying, but failing to fall asleep after about fifteen minutes.
Roman’s phone kept vibrating on the dresser and it was getting on her nerves. He always did take long showers and she still heard the water running. When he didn’t answer her after the fourth time, Malia jumped up and grabbed his phone from the dresser. Roman didn’t like her answering it, but she was tired of hearing it buzz.
“Yes,” Malia said when she picked up, but the person on the other end just held the phone.
Malia looked at the screen, but the person’s number wasn’t saved. Whoever it was hung up, but Malia had a funny feeling in the pit of her stomach. She knew that it had to be a woman because they wouldn’t have felt the need to hang up if it wasn’t. Since Roman’s phone was unlocked since she answered it, Malia decided to scroll through his text messages. The same number that had just called had also text him several times. The woman obviously knew he had a girl because she mentioned it several times. Malia felt the tears stinging her eyes as she read over the conversations. She no longer had to wonder where Roman was the night before because the proof was staring her in the face. The unknown woman was asking him what he wanted her to cook for him tonight or did he want the same thing that he had the night before. Malia was furious. She didn’t even realize that Roman was done taking his shower until she heard him say something to her.
“The fuck is you looking through my phone for?” Roman barked as he snatched the phone from her hand.
“You lying muthafucker! I knew you were with a bitch last night!” Malia yelled as he pushed him.
Roman only had a towel wrapped around his waist, but he dropped it to the floor and stepped into his Ralph Lauren boxers. Malia was screaming and crying, but he ignored her and proceeded to get dressed. He didn’t care that she knew about him cheating and he prayed that she decided to leave him. He was tired of doing the relationship thing. He tried it twice and failed both times.
“Keep your hands to yourself man,” Roman calmly replied when Malia pushed his head.
“Fuck you! You had me sitting in here worried about your dog ass while you were out there laid up with another bitch,” Malia cried.
She felt like a fool standing there naked with dried-up cum on her body as her man got dressed and prepared to leave the house, probably to be with his other woman again. Roman wasn’t even tired when he got home that morning and, now, she knew why. He wasn’t out making money like he claimed to be. He was sleeping peacefully with his side bitch.
“Aye Ro!” Roman’s brother, Chad, knocked on the door and yelled.
Chad had a key to his older brother’s apartment and he often showed up without knocking or calling first. Chad had a million women that he lived with, so he didn’t call one particular place home. If ever he wanted time to himself, he would just occupy his older brother’s spare bedroom or get a hotel room. He and Malia didn’t get along, but she knew better than to step to him.
“Roman is busy!” Malia yelled out in anger.
“I’m coming bruh,” Roman said while shaking his head at Malia.
“You’re not going anywhere Roman. You better tell me what’s up,” Malia demanded as she slipped on her robe and blocked the door.
“Didn’t you just go through my phone? Shit, you already know what’s up,” Roman chuckled.
“I don’t find shit funny Roman. I swear, if you don’t come home tonight, I’m leaving,” Malia threatened.
“Cool, just leave my key on the dresser,” Roman said as he grabbed his hat and tried to walk pass her.
“I hate you!” Malia screamed as she started swinging on him.
She felt like a fool to have left her family for Roman and be treated like shit. That wasn’t his first time getting caught messing around and Malia was sick of it. Her situation was the prime example of the grass not being greener on the other side. She thought she wanted to be on the arm of a bad boy, but it was proving to be more trouble than it was worth.
“Stop putting your hands on me, man!” Roman barked as he towered over her.
“What time are you coming back home Roman? I’m not playing with you. That sleeping out shit is over with. You need to be home in bed at a decent hour,” Malia said as he stood guard by the bedroom door.
“Didn’t you just say that you were leaving? Get your shit and get the fuck on then,” Roman said as he tried to move her out of the way.
“I’m not going nowhere. You better bring your ass back to this house tonight Roman!” Malia yelled.
“I’ll think about it,” Roman smirked, toying with her emotions.
“This is not funny Roman!” Malia screamed as she swung and hit him in the mouth.
Roman tasted the blood inside his mouth and became enraged. He was tired of Malia putting her hands on him every time she got mad. She had just gotten rid of a black eye the month before for the same shit.
