She didn’t budge from her spot on the porch as she watched Kya stop in front of her door. She expected her daughter to get out and come inside on her own, but she noticed that Kya was preparing to get out as well. She probably only did that because she saw Aiden standing there.
“Hey my baby,” Aiden said when Kylie ran up and jumped into his arms.
“Do you have homework baby?” Ava asked her daughter.
“No,” Kylie said as she ran over and hugged her next.
“Okay, go take your uniform off and get a snack until I finish cooking,” Ava said, right as Kya walked up holding Kylie’s overnight bag.
She had stayed the night with her grandparents the night before and Carmen had taken her to school.
“Here’s her clothes. My mama said that everything is already washed,” Kya said as she handed Ava the bag that was snatched from her hand.
A part of her wanted to apologize to Ava for the part that she played in keeping Kane’s outside child a secret. That was her primary reason for getting out of the car in the first place. The look on Ava’s face told her that it was not the right time or place to say anything. Having Aiden there wasn’t a part of the plan either. Kya had never known him to be at his sister’s house, not that she wasn’t happy to see him.
“What’s up Kya?” Aiden asked as he walked up on her.
“Hey Aiden.” She smiled and blushed.
“I’m trying to get some head. You got me or what?” Aiden asked, wiping the smile from her face.
“Fuck you, Aiden. Don’t disrespect me like that,” Kya said as she turned to walk away.
“Fuck you, bitch. Don’t talk stupid to my brother,” Ava said as she stood to her feet.
“What’s the problem? It ain’t like you never did it before.” Aiden shrugged.
“Look, I know that you’re upset with me and you have every right to be. I’m sorry, okay? I was wrong for the part that I played in everything. We’re adults and we should be able to talk as such,” Kya said as she stopped walking and turned to face her sister-in-law.
“Bitch, please. The only thing for us to talk about is you sucking my brother’s dick like he just asked you to,” Ava replied angrily.
“What’s up with it?” Aiden asked as he unbuckled his belt.
Kya had tears in her eyes as she power walked to her car and sped away. Ava used to be like the sister she never had. Her feelings were hurt by the way she had just talked to her. She tried to be the bigger woman and apologize, but that obviously wasn’t good enough.
“Stupid bitch,” Ava spat once she pulled off.
“Damn Ava, I didn’t know that you had it in you. I guess you are Ella’s child after all,” Aiden joked.
“Yeah, I guess I am,” Ava replied as she walked inside to go spend time with her daughter. Aside from Carmen and Kyle, everyone else in the Monroe family could kiss her ass. She couldn’t wait to be rid of Kane and his last name too.
