Chapter 42
“Hey Landon, I’m at the gate,” Malia said when she pulled up with their sons.
They had stayed the night with her and she was bringing them back home. They usually stayed all weekend, but Malia had a big test to study for. They didn’t bother her, but she didn’t want to keep them inside all weekend doing nothing.
“Okay, it should be open,” Landon replied before he hung up.
Malia drove through the gates and pulled up in front of their house.
“Look at the twins!” Lennox shouted when he saw Faryn walking with her friend and pushing his siblings in their stroller.
She and Landon always took the babies for walks around the estates, just to get them out of the house for a while. Since Harley and Kyron had come to visit, she walked with her friend instead.
“I’ll call y’all when I take a break from studying,” Malia promised her sons.
“Okay ma, I love you,” Lennox said as he leaned over from the back seat and kissed her.
“I love you too, baby, and I promise that we’ll do something fun next weekend,” Malia said when he got out of the car.
“Good luck on your test,” Lance said with a smile.
“Thanks baby. I’ll see you next weekend. I love you,” Malia said while kissing his cheek.
“I love you too, ma,” Lance said, bringing tears to her eyes.
That was his first time ever saying it back to her since they had started spending time together regularly. He reminded Malia so much of his father with his mannerisms and take-charge attitude. He was mature for his age and very smart. Malia knew that Faryn had a lot to do with that too and she appreciated her. She had prolonged the inevitable long enough and it was time for her to do the right thing. After getting out of the car, Malia walked over to Faryn and her friend.
“Hey, can I talk to you for a minute Faryn?” Malia requested.
“Yeah. What’s up?” Faryn asked.
“Uh, y’all help me bring your brother and sister inside,” Harley said to Lennox and Lance.
Malia recognized her as her sister Monica’s friend, but she didn’t think they talked anymore. Monica didn’t really talk to anyone much anymore. Ever since she got jumped at the club that time, she mostly stayed to herself. She didn’t go out at all anymore and she stayed inside a lot. They did her dirty and she was paranoid about every little thing now. After suffering a broken nose and multiple other injuries, she was like a new person. Cora said that she got some sense beat into her, and Malia believed her.
“Is everything okay with Lance and Lennox?” Faryn asked once they were alone.
“Yeah, they’re fine. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for everything. I appreciate how you take care of my sons and how you love them. They love you just the same and that makes me feel good. I thought that a relationship with Lance would never happen, but even he’s come around and I know that it’s because of you. I’m happy that Landon found you, not only for himself, but for my boys too,” Malia said, shocking Faryn with her kind and heartfelt words.
“No thanks needed Malia. I love them like my own and it’s my pleasure.” Faryn smiled.
“Okay, well, I won’t hold you. I just wanted to say that,” Malia said.
“Thanks Malia. That meant a lot to me,” Faryn said as she walked away and watched as Malia did the same.
“What was that all about?” Landon asked as soon as Faryn got back inside.
“I should have known that your nosey ass was looking out the window,” Faryn laughed.
“Hell yeah, I was looking. I thought we was gon’ have to jump her ass,” Landon joked.
“No, she was cool. We’ll talk about it later,” Faryn said, not wanting to talk in front of their guests.
“Now that that’s settled, let’s finish our discussion Faryn,” Harley said as she and her husband sat down and held the babies.
“There is nothing to discuss Harley,” Faryn replied.
“Come on Faryn, these babies are four months old now and you haven’t done anything fun since before you were pregnant,” Harley noted.
