Chapter 44

“Why can’t you stay sleep and chill like your sister?” Landon asked his baby boy, as if he understood what he was saying.

The baby only laughed and cooed like it wasn’t after two in the morning. Faryn had sent a text saying that she was on her way home, and Landon was happy. He was ready to have some alone time with his wife, when he heard Junior start to cry over the baby monitor.

“Here dad, I warmed his bottle,” Lance said when he walked into the room and handed his father his baby brother’s bottle.

“Thanks, bruh. I’m sorry that he woke you up,” Landon apologized.

“It’s okay. I was going to the bathroom anyway,” Lance replied.

“How many bottles do they have left?” Landon asked.

“London have more bottles than him. You eat too much Junior. You gon’ be short and fat just like my grandma Cora,” Lance said, making the baby and his father laugh.

“You better not let Cora hear you say that,” Landon laughed.

“She would kill me. Good night dad,” Lance said as he yawned.

“Good night,” Landon replied.

“Good night fat boy,” Lance said to his brother, right before walking out the front door.

As soon as he left, Landon’s phone rang, displaying Aiden’s number.

“The fuck you doing calling me at almost three in the morning,” Landon said when he answered the phone. He sat down and started feeding his son.

“Man… Faryn… this nigga… she left,” Aiden said, his phone cutting off after every other word.

“Wait, what?” Landon asked as his heart rate increased. The only thing he heard was Faryn left with some nigga.

“That nigga… Faryn… when she left,” Aiden said, frustrating his nephew even more.

“Bruh, I can’t hear shit that you’re saying. Your phone is breaking up too bad,” Landon snapped in aggravation.

Again, all he heard was Faryn left with some nigga. Landon knew that there was no way that could be true. He knew that God couldn’t have possibly hated him that much. He wasn’t perfect, but he wasn’t that bad either. Maybe having a wife wasn’t in the cards for him. Maybe Aiden was on to something by having multiple women and refusing to settle down. That wasn’t Landon’s style though. He loved being a family man because that was something that he never had while growing up.

“I’m on my way bruh,” Aiden said before he disconnected the call.

Landon fed and changed his son before rocking him back to sleep. He checked on his daughter as well, before grabbing the baby monitor and going downstairs. He sipped on the drink that he’d fixed himself as he paced the living room floor and waited for his uncle. He didn’t know what happened, but it had to be something serious for Aiden to be calling and coming to his house at that hour.

When Landon heard a car pull up, he disarmed the alarm and cracked the front door, granting Aiden access. When he looked up and saw his wife walk in first, he stopped pacing and studied her face.

“What happened?” Landon asked as he walked up to her.

Faryn’s eyes were red and swollen and her lip looked to be busted. When she fell into Landon’s arms and started crying, he was curious as to what had happened.

“Jo-Jo tried to kill me,” Faryn said as she cried and shook just from the memory of it all.

“What!” Landon boomed.

“He followed me outside the club and grabbed me when I was getting something out of my trunk. He slapped me and then pulled a gun out on me,” Faryn sobbed.

“The fuck! I want that nigga dead!” Landon fumed as he tried his best to comfort his wife.

“Done,” Aiden said as he sat on the sofa and looked at his nephew.

“What?” Landon questioned.
