Hands down, Landon was the sexiest man that she’d ever had the pleasure of meeting. Roman was handsome in a thugged-out kind of way, but he didn’t have shit on Landon. Malia always loved to see how he dressed because he knew how to put his clothes together very well. He even dressed their sons and they were always fresh. Landon only had on jeans and a t-shirt, but the outfit looked like it was tailored just for him. If Malia thought that she could have had him and Roman at the same time, she wouldn’t have hesitated to try. She did have them both for a while, but that was becoming too much to handle.
“Ain’t shit. What’s good with you?” Landon asked, breaking her away from her thoughts of him.
“Nothing much, I just wanted to spend some time with my babies. Y’all ready to go?” Malia asked them.
“Lance ain’t coming,” Lennox informed her.
“What? Why not?” she asked while looking at her oldest son.
“I don’t want to come,” Lance answered while looking right at her.
“You don’t have no wants boy. Come on here and let’s go,” Malia replied.
“Dad,” Lance said, looking at his father with pleading eyes.
“Nah Malia, he ain’t coming,” Landon replied.
“Really Landon? He’s a child. You’re letting him make the decisions now,” Malia fussed.
“That dude don’t have to go nowhere with your ass. You’re the one who left him, not the other way around,” Aiden noted.
“Aiden, chill bruh, please,” Landon begged.
He knew how his uncle was and he didn’t need that kind of drama in front of his kids. Malia had a slick tongue, and Aiden wouldn’t hesitate to knock her out.
“Man, let me bring my ass in this house before I be getting locked up again. Come on lil man,” Aiden said, calling out to Lance.
“Go get in the car and wait for your mama, Lennox,” Landon instructed his son.
“What’s going on Landon? What’s his problem?” Malia asked, referring to Lance.
“He doesn’t want to come with you anymore Malia. I used to make him go with you and it was doing more harm than good. He started getting into fights and acting up in school,” Landon replied.
“Okay and what does that have to do with me?” Malia asked.
“You can’t be serious right now,” Landon said as he looked at her like she was stupid.
“I’m very serious,” Malia replied.
“Malia, he’s a child. He didn’t understand why you left the way you did. He thought it was something that he did wrong. I tried explaining everything to him the best way I knew how, but he still didn’t get it,” Landon said.
“I know that my leaving was hard on them, but I’m trying Landon. I’m trying my best to make up for that,” Malia said as tears came to her eyes.
“That’s just it Malia; you can’t,” Landon replied honestly.
“So, what am I supposed to do Landon? I love my kids and I do want to spend more time with them,” Malia cried.
“Just give him some time Malia. He’s been seeing a behavior specialist and things are already starting to look up. Maybe you can try calling to talk to him sometimes, to make things a little easier,” Landon suggested.
“I call him all the time, but he never answers,” Malia noted.
“I’ll see what I can do about that. Just give it some time. He’ll come around eventually,” Landon assured her, as she nodded her head sadly.
“Thanks Landon. I appreciate you. You’re a great father and you always have been.” Malia smiled.
“I’m just doing what I’m supposed to do. They’re my first priority and they always will be,” Landon said, making her feel low.
She knew that he wasn’t directing his comment towards her, but it still hit home. Malia was selfish, and it showed by her actions. She never thought about how her leaving was going to affect her sons. She did what made her happy and that was all that mattered. She would never admit it out loud, but she regretted her decision to leave home. Roman was not who she thought he was and it just wasn’t worth it. Landon proved to be the better man and she wished she could go back and do things differently. Unfortunately, she had fallen in love with Roman and that was hard to let go off. As much as she hated to admit it, she was still in love with her ex-husband too.
