“Maybe I can invite y’all to Landon’s house soon, so we can chill and have drinks by the pool,” Faryn replied.

“Bitch, just tell me when and where,” Patrice said excitedly.

They said their goodbyes right before Faryn went inside to go get ready for her outing with Landon.

“I’m guessing that Monica was Harley’s friend that you had it out with,” Landon commented when she walked into the house.

“Yes, and I can’t believe that she’s your ex-wife’s sister. I can’t see you being married to a hood rat like that.”

“I wasn’t. They were nothing alike, or so I thought,” Landon said.

“I can’t stand that bitch with that dry ass outdated wig on. Looking like the head usher in church,” Faryn said, making him laugh.

“You play too much,” Landon chuckled.

“Jo-Jo is over there too. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way,” Faryn replied.

“I don’t trust that pedophile.” Landon frowned, making her laugh.

“How you just gon’ assume some shit like that about that man?” Faryn quizzed.

“I’m not assuming a damn thing, that’s facts. You were fifteen and he was nineteen and had you sleeping up in his house, having sex with you. You might not have known better, but his grown ass did. Like I said, he’s a fucking pedophile,” Landon repeated.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Faryn replied as she lowered her head.

“Don’t do that Faryn. Hold your head up. Fuck that nigga and everything about your past. That shit is dead and gone. You could have used your upbringing as an excuse not to do better, but you didn’t. Most chicks would probably still be swinging from a pole, but you wanted more than that. You got two degrees and a good job. The fact that you did the shit all on your own is an even bigger accomplishment,” Landon said while looking into her eyes.

“You always know just what to say to make me feel better.” Faryn smiled.

“That’s my job. Now, go get dressed and let’s go. I’m hungry,” Landon said as he pecked her lips.

Faryn jumped up and ran to her bedroom to find something to wear. She had a big smile on her face and, for the first time ever, she could honestly say that she was happy. It was all thanks to Landon and their relationship. Truthfully, Faryn had doubts after her talk with Lance a few months ago. She was scared that Landon’s ex-wife was going to come back into his life and want to be a family again. After another month or two had passed with no drama, Faryn had stared to relax a little. Landon had never given her a reason to doubt him and she didn’t want to start. Although she had never expressed it verbally, she loved him and she couldn’t even try to deny it. It was probably too soon to tell him, but the feelings were there, and they weren’t leaving any time soon.
