“I guess he didn’t tell y’all yet,” Malia smirked.
“Tell us what?” Faryn questioned.
“Mama’s back home.” Malia smiled as she held up her finger and showed off her ring.
“I told you, Faryn. He’s a liar,” Lance fumed as he jumped up and stormed out of the kitchen.
“I’m sorry, I thought he talked to everybody already,” Malia replied.
“No need to be sorry love. Welcome home,” Faryn said as she fought back her tears.
She hated that she couldn’t get to her car, but that wasn’t going to stop her. Landon had the garage opener, so she couldn’t get in to get it. She ran upstairs and grabbed her phone and purse and headed out the front door, while Malia smiled triumphantly. Faryn walked towards the front gate as she called for a Lyft to pick her up. She wanted to get as far away from Landon’s house as quickly as she could. Tears were clouding her vision and she stopped trying to hold them in.
The dam broke, and she let the flood waters flow down her cheeks. She was hurt, embarrassed, and a mixture of other emotions that she was trying to identify. Landon had made a fool of her and lied to her for months. Faryn thought sure that whatever Lennox had told Lance had to be a lie. After all, months had passed, and the subject was never mentioned again. Maybe Landon and Malia had been talking about reconciling and they finally decided to do it. Faryn’s mind was racing with lots of possible scenarios. She was even doubting Landon’s story about why he had to leave. Saying that Aiden was in jail was probably just his way of getting out of the house without seeming suspicious. He was a coward who used a woman to do his dirty work for him.
“Where to ma’am?” the driver asked when Faryn got into the car.
Faryn gave him her address, as she sent Landon a text message. It was at those times that Faryn wished that she had some family around to talk to.

“Man, it’s always some bullshit with you,” Landon fussed as he and Aiden turned on his grandmother’s street.
“That shit wasn’t even my fault though, bruh. That bitch burned me. Had my dick feeling like it was in the pits of hell,” Aiden fussed.
“You need to be mindful of the women that you lay down with and start strapping your shit up. Fuck around and catch some shit that you can’t get rid of.”
“I would have killed that bitch. She better be lucky that all I did was slap her hoe ass around,” Aiden noted.
“Seven hundred fifty dollars, all because you can’t keep your dick in your pants and your hands to yourself,” Landon fussed as if he was the uncle.
“I got you, nephew. You know I’m good for the money.”
“Nigga please, you’re already about five grand in the hole with bail money,” Landon pointed out as they sat in front of Ella’s house.
“I know bruh, but I’m done. I’m about to do like you did and reclaim my virginity until a good woman comes along. These hoes is dirty out here in these streets,” Aiden replied.
Landon laughed as he watched his uncle get out of the car and go inside. When his phone beeped with a text message from Faryn, he smiled until he read what it said.
You could have been man enough to tell me that it was over to my face, but fuck you! I’ll be there to get my car and the rest of my shit later.
“The fuck!” Landon yelled out in confusion.
He dialed Faryn’s number, only to learn that she had him blocked. Landon was more confused now than ever. When he left a few hours before, everything was fine. He hadn’t done anything wrong to make her have a change of heart so suddenly. He couldn’t even lie, Faryn had him nervous as hell. If she was trying to break up with him, she better have a damn good reason. Landon didn’t even try to dial her number again. He called his son instead to see what he knew.
“Dad! Where are you?” Lance asked as soon as he picked up the phone.
“Where is Faryn, Lance?” he asked.
“She left, but why is my mama here?” Lance questioned.
“Your mama? In my house?” Landon questioned, not wanting to believe that what he was hearing was true.
“Yeah, Lennox let her in and Faryn left. Where are you, dad? You need to make her leave.”
“I’m on my way right now bruh,” Landon assured him.
“She’s walking all through our house like she lives here. Dad, please don’t let her move in here,” Lance pleaded.
“Calm down bruh. She is not moving in with us,” Landon swore.
Malia must have lost her damn mind to show up at his house on some bullshit. She had to be crazy to show up uninvited at all. There was no telling what she told Faryn and that explained that stupid ass text that she sent. He was pissed with Faryn too because she should have known better. She knew better than anyone else how he felt about Malia. Landon didn’t hate his ex-wife, but he didn’t want her either. It was as if him rejecting Malia was making her go harder.
“I don’t want you and Faryn to break up,” Lance said sadly.
“We’re not breaking up Lance,” Landon said, praying that he was right.
He had fallen in love with Faryn and his feelings weren’t going to change any time soon. He just hoped that he could undo any damage that Malia and her drama had caused before it was too late. Landon felt his anger rising, and Malia was going to feel his wrath if she kept up with her bullshit.
