“I guess so,” Faryn replied.
Landon told her what to do, even though she already knew. She never had to take a pregnancy test before, but it seemed simple enough just by looking at it. She grabbed some tissue and sat it on the counter for when she was done. After making Landon get out, Faryn squatted over the toilet and relieved her bladder on the test. Once she was done, she sat it on the tissue and washed her hands before rejoining Landon in the bedroom.
“What did it say?” Landon asked anxiously.
“I didn’t look at it yet. I think we have to wait a few minutes,” Faryn replied.
Landon was pacing the floor like he didn’t already have two kids. Faryn sat on the edge of the bed wringing her hands as she awaited her results.
“Fuck it. It’s been long enough,” Landon said as he walked into the bathroom and looked at the test.
“What does it say?” Faryn yelled a minute or two later.
“It says that you’re stuck with me for life.” Landon smiled when he walked out.
“It’s positive?” Faryn questioned.
“Yep and Makena is gonna go crazy. You better give my sister a niece too,” Landon said while kissing her.
“I need to ask her about a doctor,” Faryn replied.
“We’ll figure that out later but, right now, you need to get me out of the dog house.”
“What do you mean?” Faryn asked.
“You overreacted about that food situation and got my sons mad with me and shit,” Landon informed her.
“Oh no, I wasn’t trying to do that. I really don’t know why I got mad,” Faryn admitted.
“Hormones,” Landon replied.
“Let me go tell them that I’m okay,” Faryn said as she walked away.
“Maybe we should tell them about the baby. They’ve always wanted a baby sister, so that might make them smile,” Landon suggested.
“It’s too soon. You really think we should?” Faryn asked.
“Hell yeah. I’m telling everybody. I’m happy as hell,” Landon replied.
“Me too.” Faryn smiled as she looked over at him.
“I love you, baby,” Landon said for the first time since he and Faryn had been together.
“I love you too,” Faryn replied happily.
She was happy that they’d finally expressed how they felt about each other. They showed their love through actions, but it was good to hear it sometimes as well.
“Come on, I got a lot of phone calls to make,” Landon said as he helped her up from the bed.
Aside from Harley and Kyron, she didn’t have anyone else to tell. She knew that they would be happy for her. If Faryn never believed in prayers before, she believed in them now. She prayed to God for a good man and Landon was her prayer come true.
