“That bitch Faryn is Lance’s counselor. That’s how her and Landon met,” Malia confirmed.
“That nigga stupid as fuck.” Kane frowned, storing the info that he’d just received in his memory. He did remember Landon telling him that once before, but the information wasn’t important at the time.
“What happened with y’all? You and Landon were best friends at one time. I know y’all ain’t beefing over a bitch.”
“Man, fuck that nigga. He sucker punched me behind that hoe, but it’s all good. If it wasn’t for Ava and Ms. Ella, him and Aiden’s bitch ass would be in the morgue by now,” Kane threatened.
He had to take a leave of absence from work because of his bruised face and ego. He also didn’t want to run the risk of running into Landon again until the smoke cleared just a little. Malia only listened, but she knew that Kane was full of shit. She had been in that family for years and talking was all that he ever did. Kane was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he loved to throw his money around. Both his parents were attorneys and they ran a very successful law firm. He played tough, but he was a spoiled pretty boy. He and Ava were the perfect couple. He was no match for Landon or Aiden and he knew it.
“He got that bitch trying to replace me. I haven’t seen my kids in a whole month now. First, Lance stopped wanting to come with me and I noticed that it was around the time that he started seeing her. Lennox still came all the time, but that started to change. He would come for a little while, but he wouldn’t want to spend the night. Now, he doesn’t want to come at all. Every time I call, he always says that his daddy is bringing them somewhere. I called yesterday and Lennox said that they were leaving to go on a cruise today.”
“Stupid ass nigga wining and dining that hoe like he got something. He better do a blood test on that baby. Lil bastard might not even be his,” Kane said.
“She’s pregnant?” Malia asked louder than she meant to.
“Yep,” Kane replied smugly.
He could see that he was getting under Malia’s skin and that was his goal. Malia was the perfect person for him to use against Landon. It was no secret that she still wanted him because Landon told him about her always begging him for another chance.
“Wow,” Malia replied, feeling that her attempts to get her family back were pointless now.
She was really going to be a nobody to Landon now. She prided herself on being the mother of his only kids. Now, Faryn was going to have that title as well. If she knew Landon as well as she thought, marriage was next on his agenda. He was a stand-up guy and he was going to marry the mother of his child, no questions asked. He believed in doing things the right way and he loved being a family man. Malia felt like crying. She had already lost Landon to another woman. She didn’t want to lose her kids to Faryn too.
“That’s fucked up about your kids though. You need to get a lawyer and fight for custody,” Kane said, trying to plant a seed of confusion.
“Hell no, Kane! Do you see where I work? I can’t afford to hire an attorney. Besides, I left them. I’m an unfit mother in the eyes of the courts.”
“That’s what that nigga wants you to think. Now, they might not give you full custody, but you can definitely get joint custody. You can make him pay child support for the times that they’re with you. It’s not like you can’t use the money and he has plenty of that,” Kane noted.
“Maybe, but I’m not in the best position to go to court right now. I’m not prepared financially or emotionally,” Malia admitted.
“Stop worrying about money Malia. Getting a lawyer ain’t nothing for me and you know that,” Kane assured her.
“Damn. Landon must have really pissed you off,” Malia said.
“This has nothing to do with his punk ass,” Kane lied.
“Why do you wanna help me then?” Malia questioned.
“You made a mistake just like a lot of people do. I don’t think you should be punished for the rest of your life for it though. And you damn sure shouldn’t be kept away from your kids. Ain’t no telling what kind of shit they be putting in their heads about you.”
“You might be right because Lance hates me now. Landon blames me for his behavioral problems in school and Lennox called me a liar one time when we spoke,” Malia said sadly.
Lennox was upset with her for lying about his father saying that she could come to their house. Malia tried to apologize and explain, but he called her a liar and hung up on her. It took her a week to get him to forgive her and she promised to never do that again.
“That’s fucked up. Nigga gon’ have your kids calling another bitch mama soon,” Kane said, trying to make a bad situation worse.
“Fuck her and him. I get it, he doesn’t want me anymore, but I want a relationship with my kids. They can’t deny me of that,” Malia argued.
“I agree. But, here, take my card and hit me up whenever you’re ready to make something shake. Stop talking about it and handle your business. Your kids aren’t getting any younger,” Kane noted.
If he thought that Landon cared anything about her, Malia would have been his latest conquest. Since Landon no longer had feelings for her, that would have been defeating the purpose. Malia was pretty, but she wasn’t his type. He liked his women thick and shapely. Malia was too thin for him. Besides, he was already trying to buy his way out of the dog house with Ava. She was pissed when she learned of his dealings with Faryn. He didn’t need to add any more charges to his case. Fucking her nephew’s ex-wife would not have been a good look. Kane had just redeemed himself from another affair that Ava had found out about not too long ago.
“Thanks Kane. I appreciate it. We’ve been talking for so long, I never asked you what you came in here for,” Malia replied after a short pause.
“Oh yeah. I need to order some food for my wife. She didn’t feel like leaving the house tonight,” he said.
Malia took out her notepad and wrote down Kane’s order. He sat down at one of the empty tables, while she went the back to give it to the cook. Malia was happy that it was almost closing time. Working at night made her appreciate the morning shift that much more. When her phone rang, she was tempted to let the call go to voicemail. When she saw that it was Roman calling, she was happy that she didn’t.
