Chapter 27

“Uh, shit,” Malia moaned, as Roman pounded into her from behind.

She was on her way home from work when he summoned her to a crime and drug infested area in the ninth ward that he was known to frequent. It was dark outside, but Malia was willing to risk her safety just to be with him. When she pulled up, she spotted Roman and Chad standing outside with a bunch of other men. He hopped in her car and instructed her to drive, giving her directions on where to go. Malia thought they were finally going to his house until they pulled up to a secluded park that barely had any lights.

When Roman got out of the car, he walked around and helped her out too. Malia got excited when he pushed her up against her car and began to roughly kiss her. Her excitement never lasted too long when it came to Roman though. A few seconds after kissing her, he turned her around and yanked down her pants and underwear. Malia was thankful that his kiss made her wet because he plunged inside of her without even checking to see. There was nothing romantic about the way he had her bent over the truck of her car, fucking her outside in the park. Malia had never felt so low in her life, but she still didn’t stop him.

“Fuck!” Roman grunted as he pulled out and released all over her ass.

“Really Roman? I don’t have nothing to clean up with,” Malia fussed.

“Damn, I needed that,” Roman said, breathing heavily.

“Did you hear what I just said? I’m standing here with your babies all over my ass and I don’t have nothing to clean up with,” Malia fussed.

“You nag too fucking much. Here!” Roman yelled as he took off his white t-shirt and threw it at her. He had another shirt underneath it, so he didn’t care. He and Chad were about to go home anyway, so it was cool. Malia cleaned herself up as best she could with the shirt, before throwing it to the ground. She felt dirty and she needed a shower bad.

“You wanna get a room?” she asked once they got back in the car.

“Nah, bring me back where you just got me from. I got moves to make,” Roman said while looking at a message that Jessica had just sent him.

She was trying to get him to come by her, but he wasn’t in the mood to be up under nobody. Malia got him straight for the night and all he wanted now was a shower and his own bed.

“When am I gonna see you again?” she asked.

“When I need to bust another nut,” he laughed.

“That’s not funny Roman. You keep telling me to be patient and I’m trying. Don’t string me along if you know this isn’t what you want. All we do is hook up to fuck and then you go on your way again.”

“You’re too old to be so naïve,” Roman chuckled.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Malia questioned.

“Nothing man, nothing at all,” Roman laughed.

Malia was dumb as hell. He didn’t understand how her sisters were so hood and street smart and she was so sheltered and fragile. Maybe the years she spent with her husband had done that to her because she was a real dummy to believe anything that Roman told her. Any other woman in her right mind wouldn’t have wanted anything to do with him if he had done to them what he did to Malia. One call of whispering sweet nothings in her ear was all it took for him to be back in like he never left.

“Make sure you call me,” Malia requested when she pulled up to the house where she had picked Roman up from.

He got out of her car without a word or a backwards glance. Malia shook her head and pulled off, heading in the direction of her mother’s home. Living with Cora wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be, but she still wanted her own space. She was working and saving her money, but the need to do more was overwhelming her. She regretted not going to school when Landon encouraged her to and she had been thinking about going back. She wasn’t even thirty years old and she had nothing going for herself. Malia was deep in thought as she pulled up to the house and parked next to her mother’s car. As soon as she opened the front door to the house, Cora was standing there ready to go off on her.

“What the hell is this?” Cora yelled as she held up the subpoena that she had been served with earlier that day.

“I told you about that already ma,” Malia replied.

“Yeah and I told you to leave that shit alone. And you got the nerve to have me subpoenaed as a character witness. You must be out of your damn mind,” Cora fussed.

“I just want to be able to spend time with my kids! Is that too much to ask for?” Malia yelled.

“You better lower your damn voice in my house. When has Landon ever stopped you from seeing them Malia? They spent an entire week here with us not too long ago. You weren’t worried about seeing them when you left home to go be with that nigga.”

“This has nothing to do with Roman,” Malia maintained.

“Girl, please. You must think I’m stupid. I saw him drop you off here at three in the morning a few nights ago. He didn’t even think enough of you to wait until you got inside safely. You must be a special kind of stupid to even deal with his ass after what he did to you. You didn’t give a damn about your kids, as long as y’all were together. Now that Landon has moved on and is happy, you want to try to cause confusion.”

“I’ve always cared about my kids,” Malia cried from the truths that her mother was telling.

“Tell that shit to somebody who don’t know the real story. But, you can remove my name from your witness list. I’ll testify, but it won’t be on your behalf,” Cora assured her.
