Chapter 29
“Harley said that it’s crowded, but they put their names on the list to be seated,” Faryn said as she and Landon sat in the traffic that they were stuck in.
She and Landon were meeting Harley and Kyron for dinner and they were running late. Faryn had just entered her seventh month of pregnancy and she was seeing her doctor every week now. As soon as she left her appointment that afternoon, she went home and went straight to sleep. She was the reason that they were late, but nobody cared. Faryn felt like she was carrying around fifty extra pounds of belly and that wasn’t easy to do. She couldn’t get comfortable for nothing and heartburn had quickly become the enemy. Her baby shower was coming up that following weekend and she was feeling like she didn’t even want to go. Aiden and Raheem helped Landon get the babies room together, and there was nothing left for them to do but wait.
“I don’t know where all this damn traffic is coming from. It’s after work hours,” Landon complained.
“I hope they get seated before we get there. I’m hungry,” Faryn whined.
“Always,” Landon laughed as he reached over and rubbed her stomach.
Faryn’s doctors were predicting the babies to be around five or six pounds each, which was ideal for twins. One baby was already bigger than the other, but that was normal too.
“My stomach feels like it’s about to pop. I couldn’t see it at first, but it looks like I’m carrying two babies now.”
“Girl, I told you that I was backed up. Nigga shot a double load up in your ass,” Landon laughed as they finally got off the bridge.
It took about ten more minutes before they were pulling up to the parking lot of the restaurant where they were meeting up at. The timing was perfect because Harley had just sent her a text and told her that they had been seated. Faryn and Landon had never eaten there before, but Harley swore that the food was some of the best that New Orleans had to offer.
“God Faryn, it looks like your stomach is twice as big as it was two weeks ago,” Harley said as her mouth hung open in shock.
She had just hung out with Faryn and her sister two weeks before, while Landon attended his family gathering.
“Girl, I know and it feels like it too,” Faryn said as she gave Harley and Kyron a hug.
Landon greeted them both before helping Faryn sit down and get comfortable. They picked up their menus and looked over them to see what they wanted to eat. As usual, Faryn didn’t know what she wanted, so Landon ordered a few different items to satisfy her cravings.
“I know your greedy ass ain’t about to eat all that food,” Harley laughed.
“Half now and half later,” Landon replied.
“Yep,” Faryn agreed with a chuckle.
“When’s the last time you talked to your boy Jo-Jo, Kyron?” Landon asked him.
“I haven’t talked to that nigga in a minute, but he called me out the blue like two weeks ago asking me all kinds of questions. The shit seemed shady, so I was vague with my answers,” Kyron replied.
“I didn’t know that he called you,” Harley said while looking at her husband.
“I thought I told you, but it wasn’t important,” Kyron replied.
“What did he want?” Harley asked.
“He was saying that he came back there to the apartments looking for me, but we were already gone by then,” Kyron answered.
“Oh okay, so it was him that kicked in the door to Faryn’s old apartment,” Landon noted.
“What! When?” Harley asked in shock.
“That was about two weeks ago. My uncle went there and found the door kicked in. I told Faryn to go turn in the keys and just be done with it. My uncle wasn’t going back there anyway,” Landon said.
“But, he’s in jail now,” Harley said.
“How do you know?’ Faryn asked.
“Me and Kyron saw one of his brothers in the mall and he told us. His own brother said that he was shady. He said that Jo-Jo had supposedly messed with one of their friends’ seventeen-year-old daughter. Had the lil girl thinking they were in a relationship and everything,” Harley informed them.
“I told you, baby. That nigga is a fucking pedophile.” Landon frowned.
