“His brother said that the dude was looking for Jo-Jo to kill him for messing with his daughter,” Kyron said, shaking his head.
“That was your second strike. I swear on our unborn kids, you better not ever bring nobody to my house as long as you live,” Harley fumed.
“We already discussed this Harley. Nobody is coming to our house,” Kyron promised.
Once the food came, they all fell into a comfortable silence as they ate. Harley was on point with what she said because everything was good. Faryn sampled everything on her plate as well as Landon’s and she wasn’t disappointed.
“Damn man, we gotta come through here more often. This shit was good,” Landon said as he finished the last of his meal.
“I know. I need some containers to take the rest of my food home,” Faryn replied as she rubbed her chest.
“Heartburn?” Landon asked her.
“Yep, just like always,” Faryn replied.
“Let me see if they have ginger ale,” Landon said as he looked around for the waitress.
“Order it, I have to go to the bathroom,” Faryn said as she stood to her feet.
“Let me come with you, friend. It’s crowded as hell over there,” Harley said as she got up and followed behind her.
The bathroom was on the other side of the restaurant near the take-out area. Everybody in New Orleans must have been hungry because the entire area was filled. Thankfully, they were nice enough to see Faryn’s huge belly and move out of her way. Harley followed her into the bathroom and waited until she was done.
“Girl, these babies be on my bladder something serious,” Faryn complained.
“You look so cute Faryn. I’m so happy for you, friend.” Harley smiled.
“Thanks girl, I’m happy too. I just gotta get over the feeling that something bad is going to happen,” Faryn admitted.
“Why do you think that something bad is going to happen?” Harley asked.
“Because it always does. Landon is the best thing that ever happened to me, but I don’t want him to regret being with me. I feel like I’m bringing all my drama into his life.”
“No, you’re not Faryn. You had no idea of knowing that his auntie’s husband and Redd were the same person. You said yourself that you didn’t know his name or nothing else about him,” Harley reminded her.
“That’s true, but it still feels weird being around his family now that they know. His grandmother and sister are okay, but his auntie is always giving me the side eye,” Faryn replied.
“Fuck that bitch, Faryn. That nigga is just a dog. If it wasn’t you, it would have been somebody else.”
“That’s true,” Faryn agreed as they walked out of the bathroom.
She and Harley were deep in conversation when Faryn felt someone tap her shoulder. When she turned around to see who it was, she almost lost her balance and fell from shock. Years had passed, but Faryn would know that face anywhere. She loved him too much to forget.
“Roman?” Faryn asked in a whisper.
He had the phone up to his ear, but he nodded his head with a huge smile covering his face.
“Girl, you better come here and give me a hug. Chad, bring your ass in here right now!” he yelled as he picked Faryn up, big belly and all, and planted kisses all over her face.
“Ahhhh!” Faryn screamed excitedly, making everybody in the restaurant look over to see what was going on.
“The fuck!” Landon yelled as he looked across the crowded room and saw what was going on.
Faryn’s scream was like a siren, making him spring into action. He jumped up from his seat and almost knocked the waitress down, as she sat the ginger ale on their table. He felt his anger rising to new heights as he observed the man who his ex-wife had left him for, hugging and fawning over the woman that he was in love with now. His luck couldn’t have been that fucked up to have the same nigga take his woman twice. Landon felt like he was moving in slow motion as he made his way over to see what was up. His attention was diverted for a minute when he saw Malia coming from the back of the restaurant and rushing over to them as well.
“Nigga, you got me fucked up!” Malia yelled as she pushed Roman, making him stumble and almost fall with Faryn in his arms.
She grabbed Faryn’s hair from the back and Landon couldn’t get to them fast enough. He hated to do it, but he was about to knock Malia the fuck out. He was just thankful that his sons weren’t there to witness it. As soon as he got close enough, Landon gripped the collar of Malia’s shirt, but Kyron grabbed him up into a bear hug before he had a chance to strike. He didn’t even know that Kyron was following him, but he was pissed that he did.
