“Run your laps outside in that big ass yard!”

“What’s wrong, baby?” Blaze asked when he walked into their kitchen.

“Them two running laps in the house just like always.”

“Where they at? I just told them about that yesterday,” Blaze said right as their three-year-old daughter, Blyss, walked into the room licking on a huge candy apple.

“Are you serious right now? Come here, Blyss. Who gave you that candy?” Remi wet a towel, ready to wipe her daughter’s sticky face.

“Tauntee,” Blyss answered as she continued to eat her candy.

“Tracy!” Remi yelled angrily.

“Relax bitch, I’m right here.” Tracy came sauntering into the room a few seconds behind Blyss.

“Why did you give her that big ass candy?”

“I’m coming to get a knife right now so I can cut it up.”

“That’s not what I meant. That’s too much candy for her to eat. She’s gonna end up with the bad kids package and nobody will wanna watch her.”

“What the hell is a bad kids package?” Blaze questioned.

“She’s gonna have silver teeth and nobody likes to babysit kids with silver teeth. It’s a known fact that kids with silvers are the worst. That’s a part of the bad kids package,” Remi reasoned.

“What the hell are you babbling about, Remedy?” Tracy asked.

“I don’t know why you even did a candy table. I told you that we didn’t need no more sweets. That big ass cake is enough. Now, I’m gonna have to watch them like hawks to make sure they don’t eat any.” Tracy was only supposed to do a fewdecorations but she went overboard like she was always known to do.

“Come on baby, you need to sit down and relax.” Blaze took the towel from her and led her into the living room.

“I need to make sure that everything is in place. The food ain’t even on the warmers yet.”

“That’s what Lollie and Marva are here for. They came so that you and baby girl can relax,” Blaze said as he rubbed her five-month pregnant belly.

He and Remi were serious when they said that they were starting their own family and she was pregnant with their fourth baby and second daughter, Blaine.

“I just wanna make sure that everything is done before my granny gets here.”

“It will be love, but you need to relax and let us do it. Vinnie got the boiling pot and the grill ready, so we’re off to a good start.” Blaze handed her the remote and pecked her on the lips.

“Okay.” Remi sighed. She reclined in one of the chairs and watched tv.

It was her granny’s birthday and she was giving her a small birthday dinner at her house. Viola loved Remi’s house so that was the perfect place to give it. Aside from the gumbo that Marva cooked, Ferris had the rest of the food catered and delivered. He and Monique’s son had swimming lessons and they were coming over right after.

Surprisingly, Ferris settled down with Monique just like he said he would. She had made New Orleans her home fouryears ago when she got pregnant with their son. She almost took him and went back to Arizona until Ferris proposed marriage. She wasn’t trying to shack up forever, so he had to get his mind right and make her his wife. They were doing well with their rental properties and he had never gone back to the streets once he left.

Remi was skeptical to have her cousin and husband in each other’s presence in the beginning, but Blaze and Ferris ended up talking it out. Blaze really didn’t give a fuck and she was good as long as her husband was.

Reanna, after successfully completing her probation, now worked for their local electricity company alongside Blaire. She never did go back to school like she claimed she would. And after being ordered to pay restitution to her former employers, she ended up living in the same low-income apartments that she grew up in. She was still being led astray by Blaire, who she still considered her best friend.

Blaire, for a while, called herself beefing with Shiva until Ferris put a stop to it. He met Blaire outside of her job one day and had a little talk with her. Remi never knew what he said, but she calmed down real quick afterwards. Blaze still didn’t fuck with her and they only saw each other in passing. His mother reached out to him eventually because she wanted to know about her grandkids. Blaze decided to be the bigger person and send her some pictures, but that’s as far as it ever went. She was never interested in being a mother to him, so he didn’t expect anything less for his kids. Lollie and Marva more than made up for where she lacked.

“Girl, that dressing is so good. Who did Ferris get to cater the food?” Tracy asked when she walked in and interrupted her daydream.

“I don’t know but everything is good. Please tell me that you didn’t let Blyss eat all of that candy.”

“I cut it up and gave her one piece. Lollie is getting them ready for the pool.”
