“Damn, so I guess that means that I can’t have your number?”
“Actually, you can but it’s not my personal line.”
“Well, I don’t want it.”
“Maybe not but you need it. All flirting aside, I like my patients to have full access to me just in case an emergency arises.”
“Yeah, that makes sense. I’ll take your business number… for now. I guess I gotta work a little harder for the personal one.” He winked as he continued to flirt.
“You sure are making it hard, but I have to pass.” Remi didn’t even want a nigga who had a girl, so having one with a wife was out of the question.
“I can’t do nothing but respect that. And something tells me that you’re not available anyway. You look too damn good to be single.”
“No rings but, yeah, I have a lil situation going on.”
“Are you in a rush to be somewhere Ms. Remedy?”
“Depends on why you’re asking.”
“Nothing special. I was about to cook for my Nana. You’re welcome to hang around if you’re free. No strings attached. I just wanna talk and get to you know you a little better.”
Since Ms. Bertha was her last client for the day, Remi planned to go to dinner and chill with Mav since he was off. He had been blowing her up all day and getting on her nerves. Instead, she ended up sitting in Ms. Bertha’s kitchen for hours getting to know her grandson while he cooked. Blaze was smart as hell and his looks were definitely deceiving. She would have thought he was a dope boy, but he was a college educated black man who knew his way around the kitchen very well.
She was wowed once again when she learned that he knew her father as well as he did. He was even a volunteer coach at Reid’s rec center and he loved it. Remi had never seen him before, but that wasn’t uncommon. She didn’t know half the people who her father knew. She hated that he was a barber in Mav’s shop but she didn’t tell him of their history. Blaze seemed like he would be a great listener and friend. Since he was already taken, the friend zone was where he would have to remain.
Mav was annoyed as he drove across the bridge coming from the Northshore back to the city. Remi was on some sneaky bullshit, and he was pissed. She knew that he was looking forward to spending his last off day with her and she was playing games. She claimed that her last patient had an episode of some kind and she couldn’t leave her. He didn’t know too much about her work, so maybe it was true. He and Kiva were into it once again and he didn’t plan on going home until after work the following day. Since he didn’t know what time Remi would be done, he was heading there now.
“Yeah!” Mav yelled into the speaker of his G-wagon when his phone rang.
“Where you at brother? Kiva just left from over here looking for you and MJ,” his sister replied, speaking of his son.
When Mav left the house earlier that day, he took his son with him to make it seem legit. Soon after, he dropped MJ off to his sister and headed to his hideaway spot.
“Man fuck! Now, this is some more bullshit that I have to deal with.”
“It’s good lil brother, I handled it. MJ went to the store with my husband, so he wasn’t here either. I told her that y’all went to get food and she said to call her when you come back.”
“Good looking sis. What she came over there for anyway?”
“I think she was really coming for MJ.”
“Yeah right. Her sneaky ass was lurking. She could have called me if she wanted MJ. My phone ain’t ring yet.”
“You talking a lil too much, so I know you ain’t around Remi.”
“No, with her sneaky ass. She gon’ make me fuck her up.”
“You gotta be careful brother. Kiva was with her messy ass sister and you know she had a lot to say. She knew not to go too far though. I would have slapped that hoe right in her face.”
“Fuck Kerri! Hating ass bitch.”
“Jealous ass hoe. She always be worried about what Kiva got going on. I told her that my sis is good. She don’t have to pay for dick like she do.”
“Shit, that’s the only way she gon’ get it.” Mav and his sister shared a laugh. He tolerated Kerri on his girl’s behalf, but she was jealous and Kiva was the only one who didn’t seem to notice.
“Where you at now?”
“I’m on my way to get my boy so we can go home. What he doing in there?”
