“Put your shades back on hoe. You looking a lil too hard for me,” Remi smirked.

“I know you fucking lying! We’re keeping secrets now, Remedy. Your sneaky ass really be moving in silence.” Tracy gave her best friend the side eye. She felt like she was out of the loop and that just didn’t sit too right with her.

“Girl relax. Ain’t nobody keeping no secrets. It’s nothing to tell so I didn’t tell it.” Remi shrugged like it was nothing.

The three of them took a seat at the bottom of the bleachers. Remi didn’t know it, but Reanna’s eyes were on her the entire time. It took forever for her to find somewhere to park, but she saw when Remi pulled up to a reserved spot right before she walked into the rec center.

“Who the fuck is that bitch?” Reanna asked Josie, one of her friends who stayed in the loop.

Blaire was supposed to be going with them but, as usual, a nigga had her attention. Josie really didn’t want to go, but Reanna begged her to. She used to get into it with a lot of girls who lived around that way and, when she moved, she rarely, if ever, frequented anything in the hood. She was messy as fuck so she stayed to herself now to avoid getting beat up.

Reanna grew up in the hood too but not the same one as her husband and friends. They always said how poor they were but none of them were as broke as her family. Reanna was the third of six children and the only one to get away from their toxic environment. Blaze rarely saw her family, and she wanted it to stay that way. She visited them when time permitted and threw a few dollars her mother’s way. She and Blaze weren’t rich but she was living better than she ever did. It helped that he paid all the bills, so she was able to bank all of her paychecks. When he refused to pay for her surgeries, she was cool with that. She had more than enough money to make it happen and she did.

Her siblings always told her that she forgot where she came from, and that was the goal. She was tired of living in a three bedroom, low income apartment with five siblings and whatever man her mother decided to move in with them. She wanted better for herself and she studied her ass off in school to get it. Now, all of her siblings lived in the same complex that they grew up in and were raising their kids the same way. Reanna was the only one who didn’t have any children and she wasn’t rushing the process. Besides, if she did get pregnant, more than likely, her husband wouldn’t be the father.

“Bitch, that’s Mr. Reid’s daughter, Remedy,” Josie replied. “Damn, she look good as fuck. I haven’t seen her in years. Everybody thought she was gon’ like girls when she was younger. I guess she grew out of her tomboy phase when she moved away.”

Josie answered her question while bringing her focus back to the present.

“Moved away where? And who is Reid?”

“Girl, you don’t know shit. This is Mr. Reid’s rec center. He owns most of the property around here. Well, he used to before he died. She’s his only child so everything is probably hers now, including this rec center. Hell, your husband be here almost as much as he be at home and you don’t know shit.”

“Nor do I care. People keep up with me, not the other way around.”

“Bitch please. Keep up with you for what?”

Josie gave her girl the side eye and she’d been doing it since Reanna picked her up. She was so arrogant now, and Josie hated that side of her. Especially since she didn’t have shit to be arrogant about. Reanna acted like she was oblivious to the stares, whispers and giggles. She was so embarrassed when they got out of the car and saw what her friend had on. Reanna’s cheeks were peeking out from underneath her high-waisted fringe shorts and the black bustier didn’t help make it any better. Pairing the outfit with high top Vans was the icing on the cake and had Josie wanting to walk a few steps ahead or behind her. Reanna’s husband dressed good as fuck but she hadn’t quite mastered the art of that just yet.

“I can’t stand that hoe.” Reanna frowned as she continued to mean mug the other woman and her two friends.

Hearing her girl say that she had a little something going for herself didn’t help the envy that she was already feeling. Josie was probably right though. She remembered Ferris telling her that she owned the house that his granny lived in, so maybe she did inherit her father’s estate. Reanna had only been back to the house a few times since their run-in, and Ferris was acting like he didn’t want her there at all anymore. He was even more careful now than he was before.

Reanna could have died when she saw that he and Blaze were on the same team. They were doing free throws and she couldn’t even front, her husband looked good as fuck. She heard a few females lusting over her man, but it was a waste. Blaze was loyal if nothing else, even if she wasn’t.

“Girl, you better not fuck with Remi. That bitch used to be the knock out queen back in the day. She can bang.”

“Is that supposed to scare me? Like I just said, I can’t stand that hoe and I stand on that.”

“Chile, I wish Blaire bring her ass on in here. I’ll Uber home if I have to.”

Josie rolled her eyes behind Reanna’s back. She had the nerve to be sitting there with her legs crossed like she was a bad bitch. Hoe was built like a mosquito and always had her nose turned up at somebody. Josie knew without a doubt that her time with being friends with Reanna had come to an end. She didn’t know how long she would be able to hold her tongue.

Reanna tuned her girl out once the game started. She didn’t know how she was gonna do it but she was gonna find away to get at Ferris. She needed to know what was up and she wasn’t leaving until she got answers.

“The girls are showing up for their men honey,” Reanna said as she looked around at all the chicks who had t-shirts with their man’s picture on it. Even some of the kids were representing their fathers, and it was cute.

“Why you ain’t representing yours?”

“Girl, I would have had to get more than one,” Reanna smirked.

“I know you fucking lying. Who else you mess with in here?”

“Bitch, I’m playing. My nigga is the finest one on the court. Other hoes want what I have. Why would I cheat?” Josie was messy and talked entirely too much. She would die before she put anyone other than Blaire in her personal business.

“Yes! That was a good shot. Damn, Blaze is a fool on the court.” Josie stood up and clapped.

“And wasting his time coaching for free and cutting hair.” Reanna frowned as she spoke. She wasn’t interested in the game, so she was looking on her phone.
