She looked up when the crowd started cheering. She was just in time to see Ferris running to the other end of the court with the ball. Blaze and a few other men were running with him, making sure the opposing team didn’t stop him from scoring. When he made the basket, Reanna jumped up and cheered with everybody else.

“I know you fucking lying! Bitch, you didn’t even cheer like that when your own man did his thing. Hell, he’s the one who put most of the points on the scoreboard.”

“And? What’s your point?”

“Chile, let me find out you crushing on Ferris ole dog ass.”

“Girl bye.” Reanna realized that she was doing too much so she sat down.

She watched as Ferris went by his cousin to grab his towel. When he did, he handed it to one of the women who was sitting with her. Reanna’s heart dropped when the other woman started wiping his sweat-covered face. He was all smiles when he leaned in and planted a bunch of kisses on her face. The comment that Josie made about him being a dog rubbed her the wrong way, but she was obviously right. Reanna felt sick to her stomach as she watched him be openly affectionate with someone else. She was ready to go and she was sure that Josie was too.

“Where you going?” Josie asked when Reanna stood up.

“This shit is boring and Blaire is taking too long to get here. I need a drink.”

“Say less. I been ready to go.”

Josie stood up and led the way out of the rec room and into the parking lot. She didn’t know what was up, but Reanna was pissed about something. She had to do some digging to see what was going on. Either way, she was just happy to get away from the hood once again.

“Girl, not you and Remi with the same shoes on,” Kerri laughed as she looked over at her sister.

Kiva and her son were sitting there with shirts on, repping Mav like he was a celebrity or some shit. The nigga wasn’t right, and she hated everything about him. Her sister deserved better than being someone’s second choice.

Kiva didn’t even see Remi when she walked in, but Kerri was outside when she arrived. She made it a point to let her know that, not only were they rocking the exact same shoes, Remi had pulled up in a blue Beamer that was identical to the Blue one that Mav had purchased for her. Kiva wasn’t in the mood to deal with her messy ass sister. Her son was in a foulmood, and he had all of her attention at the time. He had been cranky since they got there, and she was ready to take him home.

“As if I give a fuck what Remi got on. You make me think you want her sometimes. You pay more attention to her than anybody else.” Kiva was getting fed up with her sister’s sly remarks and comments.

“I’m strictly dickly, my love. Don’t get mad with me because your nigga buy his side bitch the same shit he buy for you.”

“You said the magic words; he buys it for me. I don’t have to pull out my purse to wine and dine no nigga.”

“What you trying to say?” Kerri got offended at what her sister was insinuating.

“I just said it. You always got some shit to say about my relationship but you only get a man around tax time. Once the money is gone, so is the nigga.”

Kerri stood up, ready to go off and make a scene. Kiva was ready for her and she had a lot more to say. Thankfully, their cousin was always the voice of reason and it didn’t get too far out of hand.

“Y’all chill out. This is not the time and definitely not the place. Kerri, you need to stop. Kiva is a grown woman. You don’t have to agree with her relationship, but you need to stop speaking on it.”

Nessa and her husband had started to suspect that Mav and Remi were messing around again too. They went to Lollie’s house one day and saw Mav’s truck pulling off right as they turned the corner. Lollie told them that they had just missed Remi, and that was odd. Either Mav was there with her or shewas driving his truck. They didn’t ask any questions but they knew that something was up.

“I can say what the fuck I want to say. She don’t have to listen,” Kerri snapped.

“Girl, let me get out of here and bring my baby home. He’s irritated and so am I.” Kiva sent Mav a text, letting him know what was up. They were still on the court, but she knew that he would see it once he took a break.

“I got it cousin, just get MJ. Make sure that nobody takes my seat.”

Nessa helped her cousin gather her son’s backpack and other items before she walked her out to her car. Kiva looked over at the blue Beamer that was parked out front and felt a familiar tightness in her chest. She didn’t know if Kerri’s words were bothering her or the fact that maybe she was right. She could no longer deny that Mav had started moving differently when Remi moved back. He had been doing better with sleeping home but he stayed out way later than he should have. Everything about him had changed, and she was wondering if his ex was the reason.

“Can I ask you a question, Nessa?” Kiva looked over at her cousin as they walked through the parking lot.

“Always. What’s up boo?”

“Do you think what Kerri be saying is true? I can’t even front, the shit is starting to get to me and Mav’s movements lately ain’t helping all that much.”

“What you mean? Did something happen?”

Kiva sighed, “I swore that I wasn’t gonna put nobody in my business but I trust you to keep our conversation to yourself.”
