“That was so good,” Remi said, as he caught his bottom lip in between her teeth.

“Always is. It’s even better when you sneak and get it.”

Remi had limited space but she still grabbed some wipes from her purse and cleaned them both off until they could get home to shower. Blaze walked her to her car and saw her off before he left.

“Ugh, look at my damn hair.” Remi’s honey-blonde highlighted asymmetrical bob looked a hot ass mess. She had just gotten it done two days before but she didn’t have no curls or bounce to it. She knew that she was about to get fussed at but she needed Tracy’s help.

“Bitch, I was just about to call you,” Tracy said when she picked up the phone.

“Why? What’s up?”

“Girl, I just left from Kiva’s shop letting her cut one of my wigs and, bitch, her and Mav are still together. That nigga lied. They live together and everything.”

Tracy didn’t ask Kiva any questions, but she picked up on the conversations around the salon. Mav looked like he’d seen a ghost when he saw her, and she made sure to steer clear of the salon as long as he was there.

“I’m not even surprised. That nigga ain’t gon’ never change. And got the nerve to be blowing my phone up and questioning my moves.”

“I wonder who that house belongs to that he gave you a key to. Niggas really ain’t shit.”

“Who knows. I know it’s not one of his and his daddy’s properties because it’s an apartment. That might just be his hoe house. I wish Kiva leave his ass and find her a real one.”

“I feel so bad for her though. She’s really a sweet girl and don’t deserve to be messed over like that.”

“I feel bad too but I didn’t knowingly try to fuck with her dude. That nigga straight lied. I didn’t even feel the need to ask around cause it wasn’t that deep to me. I’m good on Mav.”

“I bet you are since you’re getting dicked down by hot boy.”

“Girl and they got another tournament coming up soon. You know him and Mav are gonna be in it. It’s gonna be a hot ass mess. I don’t think I’m even going.”

“Bitch, yes you are because it’s too important for you not to.”

They were donating the money from the tournament to the cancer society, something that her father started before he even got diagnosed. His father died from the same horrible illness and he was passionate about it.

“We’ll discuss it when I come over there for you to curl my hair. Love you sis, bye.”

Remi hurriedly hung up the phone before Tracy could protest. Tracy was a natural at doing hair but she hated to even touch her own. She paid to get hers done when she was capable of doing it herself. Her passion wasn’t hair but Remi didn’t care. She didn’t make it a habit but she sometimes needed her girl to get her right.

After showering and changing clothes by her mother, Remi went by Tracy to get her hair curled. Afterwards, she took her grandmother and stepmother to her father’s grave, and Ferris tagged along. Remi and her cousin sat on a bench nearbywhile Mae and her grandmother stood near the mausoleum where her father’s remains were being held.

“What’s been up with you, Cuz?” Ferris asked as he looked over at Remi.

“Ain’t shit, just working and staying out the way.”

“Shit, I don’t know about that last part. You and ole boy name been ringing in the hood. How long you been fucking with him?” Ferris felt fake as fuck as he sat there and talked to her. He wanted to tell her that he was dealing with her new nigga’s wife so bad, but that would have thrown a wrench in his plans. He knew that Remi was solid but he just couldn’t take that chance.

“It’s complicated, cousin. I really like him but he’s still married. I mean, he filed for divorce and moved out, but we haven’t made anything official yet.”

“Why not? You said you like him and, from what I heard, he’s feeling the fuck out of you.”

Ferris knew that Reanna was lying when she said she filed for divorce. If that was true, she would have done it a long time ago. She didn’t want a divorce and she admitted that to his cousin more than once. Her husband didn’t want her no more, and Ferris could see why. She prided herself on getting out of the hood before her family but she still had the same mentality. She claimed that she was almost done with school but she barely even went. He really didn’t know if she was still a student or not. Now that her husband was fucking with Remi, it was really over for her.

“Who said that? People are so damn messy.”

“It wasn’t on no messy shit but you know people talk. They said dude is good people, so I think you should see where it goes.”

“What about you? I know you ain’t being good until my friend comes back to visit. I hope you got somebody better than that twisted body bitch that you were with before. It’s on sight when I see that hoe.”

“Man, that shit ain’t even that deep. My situation is complicated too, but she won’t be around too much longer. I’m really trying to get my shit right for Monique. I really think she’s the one.”
