“I knew y’all were gonna hook up the first time y’all met. I saw how you looked at her. I’m so happy you got away from that other black-hearted heifer. She changed and not for the better.”
“Stop talking so much and relax, Nana. I don’t want you to get short-winded.”
Blaze fixed his grandmother something to eat and helped her take a bath. She sat in her recliner and went back to sleep a short time later. Once Blaze showered and got dressed, he waited around for Remi to come. By the time she got there,Bertha was up and she was able to check her out. When Zita got there, they left and headed to the rec room. It was still early, but Remi wanted to make sure that Harry had her stepmother and grandmother a place to sit. Blaze went straight to the locker room to get ready for the game while Remi looked for her father’s best friend.
A few hours later, the rec room was filled to capacity and the game was almost about to start. Both Marva and Remi spoke about Reid and how he started the fundraiser. Marva got a little emotional when speaking on her husband, so Remi had to go up there and help her.
“Aww, poor Marva. I feel so sorry for her,” Tracy said once Remi saw her grandmother and stepmother off. It was too crowded in there for them and they didn’t want to stay.
“I do too but she did better than I thought.”
“That has to be hard to lose the only family that you have.”
“She got me and I got her for as long as God keeps me here.” Marva was an amazing stepmother and that was why Lollie loved her so much. She was a sweetheart and it was impossible not to love her.
“Bitch, don’t look now but Mav just walked in.”
Remi played it off like she was looking at something on her phone. When she finally looked up, Mav was staring right at her. He blew Remi a kiss when their eyes met and she pretended to catch it. She wanted to kick her own ass for entertaining him when she saw him walking their way.
“Don’t be up in here smiling at a nigga when you don’t even answer the phone when I call.”
“Bye, Mav. I don’t have time to be playing with you.”
“What you mean? You went ghost on a nigga for a married man. The fuck they do that at?”
“Stop hating when you’re not single your damn self.”
“Man, you need to stop listening to all that gossip. When can I see you again?”
“You’re seeing me now.” Remi discreetly looked towards the locker rooms to make sure Blaze wasn’t watching.
“Stop playing, Remi. A nigga miss you.” Mav was trying to whisper so Tracy wouldn’t hear.
“I miss you too. We need to link soon.”
“Is your nigga gon’ be cool with that?”
“I’m single, boo. Are you?”
“Yep unless you wanna take me off the market.”
“I thought Kiva did that already.”
“Kiva is my son’s mother and business partner. Nothing more, nothing less.”
“I guess she didn’t get the memo since she’s walking around with your picture on her shirt.”
“She did that shit on her own. I got my son a shirt and that was it.”
“Yeah okay.” Remi rolled her eyes at his lying ass.
“Let me go get ready to dunk on your fake ass man. Make sure you answer the phone when I call.”
Kiva hadn’t been on his back too much lately, and he was happy for that. She’d been spending a lot of time by her mother lately so maybe that was why. He was hoping to get some time in with Remi soon.
“I got you, boo.” Remi frowned when he walked away.
Mav was excited to know that he and Remi were gonna link again soon. He missed the fuck out of her and he couldn’t wait. When he walked into the locker room, he smirked when he saw Blaze and some other dudes from the hood already in there. Mav was gonna make it a point to make sure he found out when he did hook up with Remi again. Since the nigga thought he had Remi all to himself, Mav needed him to know who had her first.
