Remi was happy to see another Friday after the hectic week that she’d had. She’d lost one of her patients a week before and her heart really went out to his family. She had been feeling down since the funeral, but Blaze was really that nigga. Not only did he take the day off to go with her, he showed up to her house later that night with flowers, groceries and assorted massage oils. After cooking her an amazing meal, he massaged her from head to toe and fucked her straight to sleep. She woke up the next morning feeling like a brand new person. She kept saying that she wasn’t gonna put a title on what they had, but there was no need to. Blaze was her man and she would tell it to anybody who asked. Most people already knew so she didn’t have to.
For the first time in a while, Remi was genuinely happy. Blaze was the breath of fresh air that she never knew she needed. There was no doubt in her mind that her father would have approved and that made her feel good about them being together. She hated that he wasn’t divorced yet, but that was coming soon too. Then, there was Mav. He seemed to have turned into a stalker since he and Blaze fought. She didn’t know what kind of point he was trying to prove, but he had been begging her to spend some time with him. Remi was a big flirt and everybody, including Mav, knew that. He took her seriously when she said they were gonna link, but that wasn’t happening.
Mav was sad as fuck, but Remi wasn’t surprised by nothing that he did. She saw Kiva walking around with his picture on her shirt, and he looked her right in the eyes and lied. She honestly felt bad for Kiva but she hadn’t done anything wrong. Had she known that they were still together, she wouldn’t have given Mav a second glance.
Remi pulled up to Tracy’s house and smiled when she saw Vinnie’s car parked out front. Her girl had been down about their breakup, but she was happy that they seemed to be getting back on track.
“What’s up, Remi?” Vinnie spoke when he opened the door for her to come in. His daughter, Venecia, and her mother, Darcy, were there looking at some color swatches that Tracy had laid out on the table. She frowned when she saw what Tracy had on because she was nowhere near ready to go.
“Hey, y’all,” Remi spoke to everybody before she started fussing at Tracy. “I know you ain’t rush me to come over here and your ass ain’t even ready.”
As usual, Tracy’s face was beat to perfection but her hair was hiding under a silk scarf that matched the robe that covered her tall slender body.
“Stop being so dramatic, Remedy. I just needed them to see these different shades of green to see which one they like best. Come see which one is your favorite.”
Remi walked over and examined the different shades, carefully examining each one. One of them caught her eye almost immediately and she knew that Tracy would make it pop.
“This one is my favorite.” Remi picked it up to show them.
“See, I told you, Ne-Ne,” Tracy replied, calling Venecia by her nickname. “This is the one.”
“Yeah, I like that one too.” Darcy nodded in agreement.
“Okay, let’s go with that one then.” Venecia smiled excitedly.
“Yes, honey. Princess and The Frog. And you already got the frog for a prom date.” Tracy rolled her eyes.
“Stop it, Tracy. He’s so sweet. Ne-Ne told him that she’s gonna bring him over to meet you and her daddy, and y’all better behave,” Darcy fussed.
“I’m not making no promises.” Tracy rolled her eyes.
“I saw that lil nigga already. I’m good on meeting him again.” Vinnie waved them off.
“Daddy, you promised!” Venicia pouted.
“We’re just joking baby. I’ll put a dinner or something together, so we can all officially meet,” Tracy promised, making her stepdaughter smile.
“Thanks Tracy.” Venecia smiled as she hugged her.
“Alright boo, I know you and Remi have plans so we’re gonna get going.” Darcy stood up and hugged both women before she and her daughter left. Tracy had to get dressed, so she motioned for Remi to follow her upstairs.
“Bitch, I’m so happy for you and Vinnie. You didn’t tell me that y’all worked it out.” Remi flopped down on her friend’s bed as she disappeared into her walk-in closet.
“Girl, I was saving that tea for when we were alone. But, yeah, he gave a bitch an ultimatum and I’m no fool honey.”
“Spill it.” Remi tuned in to what she knew was about to be a drama-filled mess.
“He basically said either I’m in or out, nothing in between. I have to admit that everything that he said was right. He’s my man and he’s supposed to have my back, even when I don’t have my own. But, honey, that ain’t the real tea that you need to sip.”
“What else happened?”
“Chile, Nardi must have had a come to Jesus moment after that punch to the face. Girl, we saw him at the store yesterday and he apologized for always being disrespectful and said that it wouldn’t happen again. Him and Vinnie squashed it and everything.”
“That nigga ain’t dumb. He know Vinnie is not the nigga for him to have beef with. Still, I’m happy that you and Vinnieare good. I’m even happier that shit didn’t turn out as bad as it could have. You know niggas be feeling played when they get their asses beat.”
“Well, Mav should feel like a damn fool.”
“Fuck Mav! That nigga is the worst kind. He been blowing me up since the game.”
