“What’s all that commotion going on down here? And why is this half-naked gal sleeping and bleeding all over my clean floor? Ferris just waxed these floors for me.”
“It’s okay, granny, we got it. Go back upstairs.” Ferris gently grabbed her arm and tried to lead her back towards the stairs.
“No, I was coming down here to see what they got to eat anyway. Hey baby, how you doing?” Viola looked over at Blaze and smiled.
“I’m sorry, granny. This is Blaze, my boyfriend,” Remi introduced the two of them.
“How you doing, ma’am? It’s nice to meet you.” Blaze bent down and hugged the older woman.
“I’m okay, baby. You’s a tall drink of water, ain’t you? You play basketball or something?”
“I used to but not anymore. I’m actually a volunteer coach at Mr. Reid’s rec center.”
“Really, that’s so sweet of you.” Viola was all smiles when he said that.
“Come on granny, we’re gonna take you out to dinner since you didn’t eat. Y’all can talk some more then.” Remi and Blaze had already eaten but she just wanted to get out of that house.
“Oh, that’s sounds good to me. I got a taste for some good fried oysters. Ferris wake that gal up and get her out of here. And make sure you clean my floors.” Blaze held Ms. Viola by her arm and led her out of the house. Remi turned around and frowned at her cousin before she followed them out.
“Ouch!” Reanna hissed, as Blaire rubbed the aloe vera around her fading black eye.
“My bad girl, this shit looks a hot ass mess.”
Blaire couldn’t believe that her girl had a fight with just one person. Reanna looked like she been jumped by a few. She was still having a hard time believing everything that her friend told her. Ferris’ cousin and her brother’s new girlfriend being the same person came as a complete shock.
“I’m just happy that it’s finally clearing up. I used up a whole week of my damn sick time at work behind this bullshit.”
“You’ll be a damn fool to let that shit go. I can’t believe that we’ve been talking about the same bitch this entire time”
“I can’t believe your slow ass couldn’t remember a name as easy as Remi. You called the bitch everything but a child of God.”
“I never cared enough about that hoe to remember her name. But Blaze got life fucked up if he think that bitch about to help him spend my Nana’s money.”
“He got life fucked up if he think him and his new bitch are gonna live happily ever after.”
“And where has your so called man, Ferris, been hiding at? I haven’t heard you mention his name yet aside from him helping you out of his grandmother’s house. That nigga don’t know if you’re dead or alive. He act like he don’t even care.”
“Girl, fuck Ferris! You know that bitch is his favorite cousin. I guess he’s mad about us fighting.”
“I know you fucking lying! You haven’t talked to him since all of this happened?” Blaire asked in shock.
“Nope. I tried calling to apologize, but he never answered.”
“What the hell are you apologizing for when his cousin attacked you?”
“I just felt bad that it happened at his grandmother’s house. He’s crazy about her, and I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful. That hoe hit me first, and I was defending myself.”
“Or trying to at least.” Blaire gave her a look like she didn’t try very hard.
“Girl, bye, she caught me off guard but we’re gonna see each other again. I’m bout to call his mad ass and see if he’s calmed down yet.”
Reanna dialed Ferris’ number and the voicemail picked up on the first ring. She tried three more times and was met with the same results.
“I hate to break it to you, sweetie, but it sounds like Ferris invited you to his block party.” Blaire laughed at her own joke.
“What?” Reanna looked at her, confused about what she was trying to say.
“Bitch, he blocked you! Damn, you can’t be that dumb.”
