“I seriously doubt if Ferris even knows how to block anybody.”
Reanna chuckled. She wasn’t dumb and she already knew what it was. Now that she thought about it, that wasn’t his first time blocking her. Every time Ferris pulled one of his disappearing acts, she got the same results when she tried to call him. She still didn’t believe that Ferris knew much about blocking people, but somebody that he was in contact with did.
“Well, he obviously learned today, sis, because you are blocked.”
Blaire knew that feeling all too well. Mav had just unblocked her after an entire year. He and Kiva weren’t together anymore, and she worked her way right back in. He and Remi were over with too. According to the hood, Mav was in love with the bitch and he was beefing with her brother over her. She never went to Mav’s house anymore. Either he came to her or they would rent a room. Blaire hated that she always had to initiate their hookups. If she didn’t call Mav, he never called her.
“Let me see your phone,” Reanna requested, pulling her away from her thoughts.
Blaire handed her friend her phone and watched as she dialed Ferris’ number. The phone rang twice, and Reanna was shocked when he picked up.
“Told you,” Blaire whispered so that only her friend could hear.
“Ferris?” Reanna questioned as if she didn’t know who she’d just called.
“Who this?” Ferris asked since he didn’t really recognize the voice. There was a lot of chatter in the background, so she knew that he wasn’t home.
“This is Reanna. Who else were you expecting?”
“Aww, shit, now I gotta block another number,” he replied before hanging up the phone.
“I know the fuck he didn’t. Bitch, let’s go over there. I got my pepper spray ready for anybody who wants it.”
“I don’t think he’s home. That was too much noise in the background,” Reanna replied as she dialed his number again. Ferris answered again but, that time, it sounded like he did it by mistake. She heard him talking in the background, but he wasn’t talking to her.
“Aye Mav, you know how to block numbers, bruh? My lil sister usually do the shit for me, but I don’t be paying attention when she do it.”
Hearing him call Mav’s name made Blaire perk right on up. She knew exactly where Ferris was and she was about to takeher girl to him. As soon as the phone hung up, Reanna and Blaire headed to where they now knew he was.
“Man, that’s your new cousin-in law’s sister’s number.” Mav laughed when he saw Blaire’s number flash across Ferris’ screen.
“What new cousin-in-law?”
Ferris was confused. He had been kinda down lately since everything popped off with Remi. Just like he’d done with Reanna, Remi had blocked him from calling her. Shiva was pissed with him too once she learned about everything. His little sister understood a little once he explained himself, but she was right when she told him that he should have been honest with their cousin. Shiva had talked to Remi and she felt the same way. It wasn’t really all that deep, but she thought her and Ferris were closer than that. She just hated to be left in the dark when he knew what was up.
“That’s Remi’s bitch ass man’s sister.”
“The fuck is she calling me for!”
“Her and your side bitch are best friends. But let me block that hoe for you too. Shit, I just unblocked her my damn self,” Mav laughed.
Ferris had come through to get his hair cut and he tried venting to him about Remi. Although Ferris and his cousin were at odds with each other at the moment, he shut Mav down quick. Mav and his pops had helped him out a lot with his rental properties and he was still learning from them. He made it clear that they were cool long before he and Remi got together the first time. They remained cool when she left for Arizona and when she came back. He told him straight up that any conversationabout Remi, good or bad, was off limits. His cousin had moved on and he needed to do the same.
“Man, fuck Reanna!” Ferris frowned at just the thought of her. She got him right the morning that Remi beat her ass and he was happy that she did. She got her final dose of dick afterwards, and he was good on her.
“Alright, fam, you’re good to go.” Mav had finished cutting his hair and gave him the mirror to inspect it.
“Nigga, it’s a ghost town up in this bitch now. Where is everybody?” Ferris pulled some money from his front pocket to pay for his cut. He gave Mav a decent tip because he looked like he could use it.
“Shit, I’m hiring now.”
Mav had lost all but three barbers but he knew that it was only a matter of time before they jumped ship too. He didn’t lose them all to Blaze, but they obviously found somewhere better than his shop. He was the only one there now since the other barbers left early. If business didn’t pick up soon, they were gonna leave for good. He still hadn’t found anyone else to rent the salon area but he was hoping that he did soon. Mav was thankful for his rental properties and the income they brought in. He would have been struggling financially if not.
“For what? It don’t look like you need no help,” Ferris laughed as he successfully ended Mav’s daydream.
“It’s all good. Money is still being made, even if it’s not here.”
Mav walked his boy outside and waved at a few dudes who were hanging out by the store next door. He and Ferris both turned their attention to the blue Beamer that had just pulledup. The front plate let them know that it was indeed Remi’s car. The last picture that she took with her father was on it. Ferris was ready to run over there and beg his cousin’s forgiveness on bended knee if he had to.
