“I don’t have a problem with moving but I don’t like none of the areas that we looked in. Why can’t we go on the Northshore like Remi? It’s not that far of a drive back to the city.” Tracy loved the Northshore and she loved going to Remi’s house. It was on the outskirts of New Orleans but it seemed like an entirely different world. She loved her city too much to move away, but that was the next best thing in her opinion.

“I don’t give a damn if we go to the moon as long as we own and not rent. I’m tired of paying other’s people’s mortgages when I can be paying my own.”

Vinnie and Tracy didn’t live together yet but it was almost as if they did. They slept next to each other every night but theyalternated houses. He was paying rent at both houses and he was sure that it was being used to pay someone’s house note. He was ready to buy a house so he could be paying his own.

“You should come take a look at some of the subdivisions. They have beautiful homes in gated communities. I can ride around with you,” Remi offered.

“Thank you, Remi. I know you’ll light a fire under her ass even when I can’t,” Vinnie fussed.

“Enough about that, girl. I forgot to tell you about Nardi.” Tracy clapped her hands as she spoke dramatically.

“I know he ain’t back on that bullshit, especially after Vinnie beat his ass.” Remi hadn’t heard his name in a while but that wasn’t a bad thing.

“Yeah, he’s on some bullshit alright,” Vinnie laughed.

“Bitch, me and Vinnie went to a party last weekend and he was there.” Tracy popped her lips but she didn’t say anything else.

“And? I hope that’s not the entire story.” Remi was waiting for her to finish telling it.

“He was there with a queen, honey, and I don’t mean the one in England.”

“I know you fucking lying! He was with a man?”

“Sure was. I already knew though. We can spot our own a mile away.”

“It wasn’t hard to see though. That’s why his ass was always saying something to you. Did he see y’all?” Remi was eager to know the answer to that question.

“He sure did, and I made sure of it. I walked right on over and tapped him on the shoulder to say hello.”

“What did he say?”

“There’s nothing that he could say. He looked like he’d seen a ghost. He spoke and hurriedly made his way to the exit.”

Remi laughed, as Tracy dominated the conversation with her theatrics. It was after one in the morning when they finally left, but they had a good time.

“Tracy is crazy as hell. She should have been a damn comedian,” Blaze laughed, just as he’d been doing the entire night. It felt good to get out for a while and he looked forward to doing it again soon.

“She’s a nut, but that’s my sis. She made being an only child just a little bit easier.”

“What about your cousin? Have you talked to him yet?” Blaze asked, referring to Ferris.

“Nope and I’m not trying to.”

“Stop being stubborn, Remi. Y’all are too close for that.”

“Exactly! We are close, which is why he should have said something when he saw that you and I were together. I’m not on no messy shit so I wouldn’t have told you anything. The same way you said you didn’t tell me about Mav and Kiva when you found out that we had dealings. That wasn’t my place. But I see exactly why you stopped being attracted to her. Why would she do that to her body?”

“Following behind my sister. But I want you to make up with your cousin, baby. Life is way too short for that.”

Remi told him all about her and Reanna’s first encounter. He had seen Ferris at Mav’s barbershop and around the rec room. They were always cordial and spoke but they didn’t really know each other like that.

“I agree, but this is gonna be so weird. Monique is my girl, but I’m not gonna feel right having you around Ferris like that.”

“I understand, love but I don’t want you to feel like that because of me. Your cousin was never my friend and I was married to Reanna, not him. Shit, my feelings weren’t hurt at all. I wasn’t fucking her so somebody had to do it.”

“Did you ever suspect her of cheating?”

“Not really but, once I stopped caring, it didn’t even matter. That nigga, Mav tried to throw shade about it once before, but I already knew what that was about. That nigga was hurt and thought he was hurting me.”
