She felt the exact same way, especially since she didn’t have any symptoms. Her appetite was something serious and that kinda concerned her. She found out the week before and she was already seven weeks in. She wanted to tell Blaze the day she found out, but his grandmother’s declining health had him consumed and she didn’t want to take his focus away from that.

“So, are we absolutely sure about that one?” Blaze asked as he looked over at Remi.

“OMG, Blaze, seriously? I thought we both agreed that it was our favorite. Don’t have me getting excited for nothing.”

“I’m not, baby, I just wanna be sure that we’re still on the same page. You how your moods have been changing lately. I should be telling you not to get my hopes up high like you did before.”

It had been a little over two months since Blaze laid his grandmother to rest and it felt like he was finally getting back into the swing of things. It felt good being back at his barbershop, and he appreciated Ricky for holding it downwhen he couldn’t. Remi had just entered her fourth month of pregnancy, and he was too excited for words. Now, they were in the process of looking for their dream home to raise their baby in. He knew without a doubt that Remi was the one and that just kept being proven to him. He was getting all the things with her that he’d hoped to get with Reanna.

“I wasn’t trying to get your hopes up before. I really did like the house but I absolutely love this one.”

“Thank God because so do I.” Blaze smiled happily.

He and Remi had looked at so many houses over the past few weeks and he fell in love with one of them. He thought that Remi loved it too until he told her that he wanted to make an offer on it. She crushed him when she said that she wanted to keep looking, but he was happy that she did. The house that they had seen the day before was like something out of a magazine. It was newly built, fully furnished and exceeded both their expectations.

Sadly, the family that it was built for died in a car accident only a week before they were scheduled to move it. Mr. Reid’s attorney knew that they were house hunting and he was the one who told them about it. Unfortunately, the house was supposed to be for his brother and his family. Per their wishes, he inherited everything that they left behind, including the house. He admitted that he wanted to move into it but his wife didn’t. They were empty nesters who were approaching retirement. His wife thought that it was too big for just the two of them and she didn’t want the added responsibility. He promised Remi that he would give them a good price below market value if they were interested, and both of them were.

“Tracy is gonna be so excited if we get it.”

Tracy and Vinnie had just moved into their newly purchased home on the Northshore. The house that they were hoping to get was in another subdivision about fifteen to twenty minutes away.

“Not if, baby, when. Mr. Reid is still that nigga. His name is still opening doors.”

“I know right.” Remi looked away as she smiled sadly.

Her father’s attorney spoke very highly of him and he loved Remi because of who her father was. He told Remi how he and his wife were struggling financially a while ago when their three kids were in college. Tuition was expensive and the bills were piling up. Reid stepped in without even being asked and gave them a helping hand. For that, he would always be indebted to his one and only child on his behalf.

“It’s okay, baby, like you always tell me, remember the good times.”

“Yeah, you’re right,” Remi replied right as her phone rang. She answered Tracy’s call on the second ring.

“Hey, sis. What do you and Blaze have planned for the day?” Tracy asked.

“Not a damn thing. We just left from my old house to make sure everything was done right before I list it.”

Remi let Kimmie, Ferris and Tracy have everything out of her old house since all three of them had just moved. There wasn’t much that needed to be done, but she had the paint freshened up to give it a more vibrant look. It was ready to be rented and she had to write up an ad to put in the newspaper.

“So, y’all are already on the Northshore?”

“Yeah, why? What’s up?”

“Vinnie got some lobster tails and salmon that he’s about to put on the grill. I didn’t feel like cooking so I went picked up a few sides to go with it. He wanted me to invite y’all over.”

“Tell him thanks and we’ll be there in a few.” Blaze was starving and he answered before Remi had a chance to. He was gonna take her out to dinner but that was even better.

“Do y’all need us to bring anything?” Remi asked.

“No, just yourselves. See y’all soon.” Tracy hung up, and Remi turned to face Blaze.

“Hungry much?” she laughed.

“Starving is more like it.”

He and Remi made small talk as they headed to Tracy’s subdivision. Remi called for her to buzz them in right before they drove to the back where their house was located. She laughed when she saw them standing outside talking to two middled aged white men. One of the men was holding a poodle with a pink tail and bow. Tracy was a social butterfly, but Vinnie was a recluse. He looked like he was over it, but Tracy was all smiles. When they saw her and Blaze pull up, they excused themselves and walked over to their car. The two men waved at them and they both waved back.

“Look at y’all, bonding with y’all new neighbors and shit,” Remi laughed.

“That’s her overly friendly ass always wanna talk to somebody.” Vinnie frowned while nodding at Tracy.
