“I appreciate it but I haven’t really given it much thought yet.”

Blaze and Vinnie had gone there and cleared out the refrigerator and freezer so that the house didn’t have a smell if something went bad. Other than that, everything was exactly how it was before Bertha’s last and final stay in the hospital. He and Remi had been discussing either renting it out or listing on Airbnb. One thing he didn’t want to do was sell it. That house held so many memories that he never wanted to part with. Aside from that, he and Remi wanted to keep all of their family properties in the family.

“Well, you take all the time you need. Marva and I are here for whatever you need us for,” Lollie noted, as Marva nodded in agreement.

“Let us get out of here so we can head back home. I’m gonna see my granny before we go,” Remi said right as her phone rang with Shiva’s number appearing on the screen.

“You just talked her up. She probably got Shiva to call for her,” Lollie laughed.

“Hey, cousin,” Remi answered the phone with a smile. She loved and appreciated Shiva so much. She loved their grandmother just as much as Remi did and she took good care of her. Kela did too but she had kids that she had to devote most of her time to.

“Remi! Where are you? The police just ran up in granny’s house!” Shiva sounded scared out of her mind, making Remi’s heart drop.

“The police! I’m coming now, Shiva. I’m right up the street by my mama’s house.” Remi rushed out of the house as she told her husband and family what was going on.

The police presence on the block was huge, and Remi wondered what was going on. She visibly relaxed when she saw her grandmother sitting in a chair on the sidewalk. Her grandmother’s door was barely hanging on and the glass in the middle of it was shattered.

“Remi!” Shiva yelled and waved her over. Her eyes were red and swollen, letting Remi know that she had been crying.

“What the hell happened?” Remi asked as she bent down and hugged her granny.

“I don’t even know but I’m okay. Lil Harry is in there, so he’s gonna make sure everything is alright,” Viola replied.

Harry had been her son’s best friend since they were teens. They were practically family, and Viola was happy when his son showed up. He was pissed that they ruined her door, but they were only doing their jobs. He came right before they had a chance to tear up her house, looking for whatever they were trying to find. Hearing that Lil Harry was there made Remi feel just a little better, but she was still confused.

“What are they even here for?” Remi had a lot of questions with no answers.

“They said that somebody called them about drugs being in the house.”

Shiva was so scared when their front door came crashing down. She was happy that her granny was upstairs because they probably would have given her a heart attack if she wasn’t. Kela and her kids were gone, and she was on the computer doing some homework. They had Shiva face down on the floor, and she begged them not to startle her elderly granny. Thankfully, they weren’t assholes and they calmly walked up the stairs andescorted her grandmother downstairs. They even got a chair for her to sit in, so she wouldn’t have to stand so long.

“Drugs!” Remi yelled angrily. “Why would they even think that?” Shiva gave her a look like she had an idea. Remi walked over to her cousin so that they could talk without being heard.

“My money is on Reanna,” Shiva whispered.

“Seriously? What reason would she have to send the police up in granny’s house?”

“She has every reason, Remi. You beat her ass and took her nigga. Ferris used her up and dropped her once he was done. She’s a woman scorned. But it’s cool, I got something for her ass.”

“Does Ferris know?” Remi asked, but Shiva didn’t have to answer.

As soon as she looked up, she saw her cousin and Monique rushing over to them. Shiva had called her brother before she called Remi, and he assured her that he was on his way. They had to park down the block since the police cars were taking up the whole street.

“What the fuck is going on?” Ferris asked nervously. Monique stood next to Lollie and Marva while he went and talked to his family.

“That mangled body bitch, Reanna, is what happened. I know it was nobody but her who called the police and said they have drugs in the house.” Shiva frowned.

“How do you know that it was her?” Ferris was heated but he didn’t know what to make of everything.

“Who else would it be Ferris? You hurt her and she’s trying to hurt you. Fucking with my granny was the wrong move to make though.” Shiva rarely cursed, so he knew that his little sister was upset.

“When they let y’all back in the house, you and granny go pack some clothes and come by me for a few days.”

“You know she is not gonna do that and I’m not coming if she’s not.”

Lil Harry walked out of the house and locked eyes with Remi. He discreetly nodded his head, telling her to come over to him.

“What’s going on, Harry? They got my granny sitting out here like she’s El Chapo or some shit.” Remi was fuming.
