“Do I? Maybe I should replay the recordings to see who’s really fucked.” Reanna’s face fell and guilt was written all over it. “Yeah, that’s what I thought.”
“Whatever, I’m gone.” Reanna turned and yanked her office door open, preparing to leave.
She gasped when she saw two uniformed police officers standing there waiting for her. Everything in her went numb as her heart beat erratically in her chest. They were talking, but she wasn’t listening. She was busted but she didn’t know how. She was always super careful, or so she thought. She couldn’t help but think about the anonymous call that she made to the police about Ferris. Now, instead of him being locked up, she was on her way to jail.
Reanna was in a daze until the coolness of the steel bracelets that were being placed on her wrists snapped her back to reality. She was so embarrassed as she was escorted off of the premises in front of her co-workers and placed in the back of a patrol car. She wasn’t expecting any guests but she had one anyway. Her visitor was indeed a baddie and the bitch’s name was karma.
“I’m pissed the fuck off man,” Blaze fussed as he and Remi walked away from the beauty supply store. He needed a few more supplies for his shop and a new set of clippers.
“I don’t know why. It ain’t like y’all were still married.”
“I know, baby, but that bitch tarnished my Nana’s name. Why the fuck didn’t she go back to using her maiden name?”
He was shocked when he saw Reanna’s mugshot on the news and in the newspaper. She had been arrested for theft and that surprised him too. He was annoyed that Reanna was still using his last name because it wasn’t very common. He didn’t want to be associated with her in any way. He was so happy withRemi that he’d completely erased his first marriage from his memory.
“Stop being so dramatic, Blaze. The bitch had your last name when she was walking around with that lopsided ass. That’s when you should have been embarrassed.”
“Trust me, baby, I was.”
“I’m just happy that you didn’t have any joint bills or babies with her ass. That made our lives much easier.”
As shocked as Blaze was, Remi already knew what was up. Shiva played no games behind her granny and her brother and Reanna had her fucked up. Lil Harry came through with the actual call that was made on her granny’s house and there was no mistaking who it was. Ferris was pissed, but Shiva had hands too and she wanted blood. Since she couldn’t get it, revenge was the next best thing.
She made the call to Reanna’s job and it was over from there. They apparently had cameras that were pulled, and she was caught stealing on multiple occasions. Shiva was pissed because it took way longer than she wanted it to and she thought that Reanna was gonna be locked up the same day. When two months passed, she had given up hope of it ever happening at all. Apparently, they had to open an investigation and gather evidence. Remi loved and trusted her husband but she never told him what happened. She probably would eventually but everything was still so new.
“Shit, you ain’t the only one that’s happy,” Blaze replied, bringing her back to their present conversation.
“Look, baby, these are so cute.” Remi picked up a pair of rose-gold plated clippers for him to see.
“I can’t just buy what’s cute, Remi, and I ain’t cutting with no damn pink clippers.”
“They’re rose-gold, not pink.”
“Same difference.”
Blaze shrugged as he rubbed her huge belly. That was something that he never got tired of doing, especially when they were in bed. They had one more month to go before their bundle of joy arrived and they were both excited. Lollie and Tracy put together an amazing baby shower, and their baby had more than enough of everything. Blaze hated that his little one would never get to know his family, but that wasn’t his fault. He hadn’t seen or heard from any of them since he laid his grandmother to rest.
“Hey, y’all,” a female voice spoke, prompting them both to turn around. They smiled when they saw Kiva standing there with her son and another little boy that was around his age.
“What’s up, Kiva? How you been?” Blaze asked as he smiled at her.
“I’ve been good and I see that y’all have been too. Congrats on the bundle of joy.”
Kiva was genuinely happy for Blaze and Remi. He was a good dude and he deserved good things. Although her sister thought she was crazy, she was happy for Remi too. Kerri didn’t see things the same way that she did and she didn’t expect her to. She wanted her to hate Remi so bad, but it wasn’t that deep. They had both moved on from Mav and all the drama surrounding him.
“Hey, girl and thanks,” Remi replied with a genuine smile of her own.
“What are y’all having?” Kiva asked. Remi was glowing and her hair had grown out a lot. She looked the same size except for the belly that was leading the way.
“Blaze got his wish and we’re having a boy.” Remi rolled her eyes playfully. She was actually excited too. She didn’t know the first thing about being a mother and she was happy that he would probably be more hands on with their son than she was.
“Girl, trust me, you’re gonna be happy when you see how easy they are to care for. And you don’t even have to take him to the barbershop,” Kiva laughed.
“I know right.” Remi laughed with her right as a tall, dark skinned man walked over to them.
“Y’all, this is my boyfriend, Rashad,” Kiva introduced them to her new man.
Remi was so happy for her and she prayed that everything worked out. Kiva was a sweet girl, but Mav took advantage of that. He didn’t deserve her and she was happy that he didn’t have her anymore.
