“Girl, pick up your hair and your face. They’re both on the ground,” Remi taunted.
Shit was far from being over, and Blaire put that on everything. She couldn’t wait to tell Reanna that she hated Ferris’ little sister as much as she did, if not more.
“Don’t worry about nothing. They all gon’ get what’s coming to them.” Jean shook her head as she and Blaire walked to the car.
“Looks like you already got what was coming to you!” Remi yelled as they got into the car and pulled off. Shit happened so fast that they never even got the food out of the car.
“I apologize, Blaze. I didn’t mean to disrespect your mama but I would have had to lay her right next to your sister if she would have hit me.” Shiva didn’t know that he and his mother didn’t have the best relationship and she didn’t want any bad blood with her favorite cousin’s husband.
“Nah, Shiva, you’re good and that was a long time coming. I’m just happy that I was here to witness it.” Blazealways thought that it would have been his wife to put the paws on his sister, but seeing Shiva do it was even better.
Once she got the check from Remi, Shiva was on her way once again. Vinnie and Blaze finished what they were doing and, two hours later, they were done. Aside from the four boxes of memorabilia that Blaze was gonna keep in their garage, Bertha’s house was completely empty.
“Damn, man, this is a bittersweet moment,” Blaze said as he looked around the empty house that held most of his good childhood memories.
“I know, baby, but you’re not selling it. You can always keep it for when we wanna spend time in the city if it’s not booked.” Remi hugged her husband from behind as he had his moment.
“I’m straight, love. Every good thing that ever happened to me happened in this house, including meeting you.”
“Yep, this is where it all began.” Remi looked around and smiled.
“Eww, I hope y’all ain’t talking bout fucking.” Tracy frowned.
“Really Tracy?” Remi gave her the side eye.
“Alright fam, let’s do a final walk-through to make sure we got everything,” Vinnie suggested.
He and Blaze walked around the empty house just to make sure that nothing was being left behind. Once they were satisfied that they’d successfully emptied the house, they grabbed the boxes and put them in his truck.
“We didn’t even eat our food and I’m starving.” She was looking forward to eating her blackened fish and pasta but she knew that it was ice cold by now.
“Maybe we can drop these boxes off and go out to eat somewhere, my treat,” Blaze offered.
“Shit, that sounds like a plan,” Vinnie nodded.
“Yes and we can save the food that we just got for tomorrow, so I don’t have to cook.” Tracy was already thinking ahead.
“We might have to make a stop first,” Remi spoke up.
“What’s up, baby? Where you need to go?” Blaze asked.
“To the hospital, I think my water just broke.”
“This bitch always gotta make everything about her. If you didn’t want your husband to bring us out to dinner, that’s all you had to say.” Tracy rolled her eyes dramatically.
“Bring your greedy ass on. We’ll be right behind y’all, fam,” Vinnie said as he grabbed Tracy’s hand and pulled her along.
“How you feeling, baby? Are you in any pain?” Blaze was nervous but he was trying hard not to let it show.
“No, I feel like I need a bath but I’m okay.”
He helped Remi get in the car before he did the same. He sped all the way to the hospital with Vinnie and Tracy speeding right behind them. Remi took the time to call her family and they were pulling up to the hospital a short time later. Blaze was overly excited as they entered the hospital. Hopefully, his firstson would be entering the world soon and he wanted his face to be the first one that he saw.
He looked at Remi as the staff rolled out a wheelchair for her to sit in. She was the most beautiful woman that he’d ever seen and he felt blessed to have her. His grandmother begged him to hire her another nurse and he refused for a while. He never knew that obeying her orders was gonna benefit him more than it did her. He met his soulmate that day and, although he was already married, he had no regrets. He fell deeply in love with her and there was no cure or remedy for that.
“Stop running in this house!” Remi yelled to her two overactive sons, Blaze Jr. and Blake.
“Sorry Ma, we have to run our laps,” five-year-old Blake yelled back. Just like their father, they loved basketball. That was nothing new and Blaze wouldn’t have it any other way.
