Brea tilted her head in confusion.

“The guy that tried to act like he got her the Barbados event,” Nessa clarified.

Brea’s eyes widened. “Oh, Tall, Dark, and Handsome who was here last time?” She motioned around them, indicating where they’d last run into Alexander during a previous Brunch Babes date.

Kelsey scowled, but chose to ignore Brea’s sillyhandsomebit. “He’s made it his life’s mission to annoy the shit out of me.”

“Well, there could be worse men to annoy you. He was hot.”

Kelsey shot Brea a glare. “No, he wasn’t.” Except that she was lying. To the girls who knew her well enough to see right the fuck through her lies.

But… Alexander? No way. That was a ship that would not sail.

Ever.

Brea laughed, refilling all of their champagne glasses in turn. “Okay, Kelsey.”

“Are you going to tell us what his text said?” Nessa tapped the table.

Kelsey huffed, flipping her phone over and setting it face down on the table. They didn’t deserve to see a picture of Jean-Luc if they were going to grill her about Alexander.Take that, bitches.

They all watched her keenly.

Brea held Kelsey’s refilled champagne flute just out of reach.

“Oh, you’re ridiculous.” She reached for it and Brea pulled it away further. Kelsey laughed, shaking her head. “He said five days.”

“What happens in five days?” Brynn asked, leaning forward.

Jaw clenched, Kelsey sighed through her nose. “I guess that’s when we’ll see each other in Barbados?” She shrugged. “I don’t really know.”

“He’s counting down the days?” Nessa said this with far too much enthusiasm. “Why?”

“Who knows? Who knowswhyhe does anything?”

“That’s kinda sweet,” Nessa said.

“There’s nothingsweetabout Alexander Arroyo.” The opposite, actually. He was a jerkface nickname-giver with a proclivity for ruining Kelsey’s life.

Dramatic? Yes. But also true.

“Does he text you the countdown every day?”

Kelsey turned to stare at Nessa. “Yes, Vanessa, like a stalker.”

Nessa pulled her lips into her teeth to keep her smile at bay.

“Okay,” Brea said, always the one to diffuse a situation, “we’re all updated on the Smart Enterprises deal falling through, you all know I’m single and not getting any.” She raised her glass in mock salute. “And we all know Kelsey’s getting plenty—”

Kelsey laughed. “Guilty.”

“And now we know about her little love triangle—”

“Whoa.” Kelsey raised her hands. “Bite your tongue, B. There is nolove triangle. I banged Jean-Luc, that’s it. The sex was awesome, but he lives in France, you guys. I’ll never see him again, and we didn’t even exchange numbers or follow each other on Instagram.”

Nessa cleared her throat. “And what about… Alexander?”

Kelsey shot her a glare. “What about him?”
