“Fine. Thank you,” she bit out.

His amused eyes met hers again. “There. Was that so hard?”

She breathed deeply through her nose and gave him her best unaffected, blank expression when she stated, “Now, kindly remove your hand from my leg.”

His lips twitched and his smirk deepened sexily, then his fingers tightened briefly on her thigh again, sending a rush of heat to places she’d like to ignore—and possibly boot off the plane. He slid his hand higher up on his way to release her, making her body wake up in all kinds of ways. “My apologies.”

Smug bastard. She took a deep breath, then downed the rest of her mimosa in one large gulp.

On second thought, she likely wouldnotmake it through this weekend unscathed.

Not ifhehad anything to do with it. Clearly, provoking Kelsey was Alexander’s favorite past time.

Alex reached up between them, the movement sending a fresh wave of his cologne toward her as he pressed the call button for the flight attendant.

Or was that his deodorant? Kelsey stared at his armpit and nearly leaned into it, but then he lowered his arm, thank God.

The flight attendant returned to their aisle a moment later, looking at the two of them questioningly because the guy in the aisle seat was asleep. Or just doing a much better job at pretending than Kelsey had been earlier.

“Another mimosa for myassociate, please,” Alexander said.

The attendant looked at Kelsey and raised her eyebrows, so Kelsey nodded, then the woman hurried off to get her drink.

“Thank you,” she grumbled.

Alex nudged her with his elbow, then left it there between them, more on her side of the armrest than his. “See? You’re getting good at that whole ‘thank you’ thing.”

She rolled her eyes and focused on the sky outside her window. After a few minutes, her curiosity won out over the silent treatment. “Your girlfriend seems pleasant.”

“Definitely not my girlfriend.”

Kelsey side-eyed him. “Just a fling, then? A fling you take out to lunch with your mom?”

Alex smirked and Kelsey tried not to like it. “A little bothered, are we?”

Kelsey scrunched up her nose and mouth. “Um, no, why would I be?”

Alex’s eyes danced as he watched her. “She’s my real estate agent.”

“Oh, you’re moving?” She raised her eyebrows expectantly. “Far away, I hope?”

Alex nodded, leaning toward her. “You’d like that.”

“Very much so.”

His gaze dropped to her mouth again and his smirk deepened, releasing his lone dimple. “I’m not convinced.” Watching her face for a reaction, he trailed his knuckles against her arm, sending a rush of goose bumps across her skin. His gaze fell to her arm and he smiled smugly. “Are you cold?”

Kelsey pulled her arm away. “You’re in my space.”

Alex chuckled, but didn’t move. “I think you want me in your space.”

Kelsey swallowed hard—because he was right, the bastard—then shrugged—because she would never lethimknow that. “Guess you can think what you want to think.” She elbowed his arm. Hard. “Scoot over.”

With a slow smile, Alex moved just a smidge away from her, then he settled into his seat, opening his legs until his knee rested against hers.

Kelsey clenched her jaw. He was justallabout invading her space today.
