Nodding, she allowed herself to accept his words as truth. Even if Drew and Renee seemed happy, they obviously weren’t, and Alexander would know that better than anyone as Drew’s best friend. And, just because their relationship didn’t work out, and Brea’s relationship didn’t work out, didn’t mean Kelsey and Alexander couldn’t at least try.

Look at Nessa and Lucky? Kelsey was obsessed with them and they were obsessed with each other.

She looked at Alexander then, reallylooked at him, holding his gaze so he would hear the truth in her words and see the truth in her eyes. “I have no regrets.”

His eyes widened briefly, then he gave a curt nod. “I don’t either.”

Kelsey sighed, and some of her guilt slunk away into the tile floor. “What should we do now? Fly home?”

Alexander twined his fingers through hers. “Is that what you want to do?”

As Kelsey considered, she listened to the waves lapping at the shore through their open bedroom window. She shook her head.

“I don’t want to leave either.” Alexander rose to his feet and gently tugged her up to join him, then he slid his arms around her waist. “We have all this great food. It’ll go bad if we don’t eat it.”

She nodded.

“This beautiful beach.”

Kelsey nodded again. He had some good points.

“And somewhat tolerable company.”

“Barely tolerable.”

He smirked, and Kelsey focused on that sexy lone dimple. “I say we tell your friends we’re all staying, then we ignore them for the rest of the weekend.”

She raised an eyebrow as her stomach started to tickle with anticipation.

“Because we’ll be too busy having sex,” he stated slowly, as if Kelsey couldn’t easily follow his one-track mind. “And making up for lost time.”

Kelsey pushed up on her toes and wrapped her arms around Alexander’s neck. “Lost time?”

He nodded, nudging his nose against hers, then dipped his head to steal a kiss. “I’ve been in love with you since first grade, Kelsey Sutton, and I’ve only just started kissing you.”

“You kissed me back then.”

He frowned. “You mean in high school?”

“No. Well, yes, but I meant in first grade.”

Alexander’s smile fell and he pulled back to look at her, his expression serious. “No, that was definitely you.”

Kelsey laughed. “I think you need to have your memory checked, old man. Why do you think I was so pissed whenIgot called to the principal’s office?”

Alexander searched her gaze, his eyebrows slowly knitting together. “Ikissedyou?”

She nodded. “And you’ve been trying to repeat that smooth move ever since.”

Alexander grinned, then ducked down to claim her mouth.

He’d been chasing her all this time, and now, with his lips on hers, she couldn’t for the life of her recall why she’d been running.
