Epilogue
Phoebe adjusted theveil on Felicity’s head and stood back, a glowing smile on her face. “There. You look perfect.”
“Thanks, Grams.” A wave of nerves and excitement skittered over her skin, and Felicity tried not to think about the fact that she was about to walk outside wearing the same mermaid cut wedding dress she’d purchased five years ago. Aiden still hadn’t seen it.
Grams pulled her into a hug and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “I’d better get out there. You just smile and walk down that aisle, and everything will be wonderful.”
“I love you,” Felicity said, swallowing back emotion.
“I love you too, sweetie.” Grams exited the villa and Felicity picked up her bouquet of flowers. She sucked in a breath. This was it.
“I can’t believe it,” said a voice behind her and she turned to see her father, standing just inside the sliding glass door. “My little girl has grown up.”
“Daddy,” she said, blinking back emotion. His flight had been delayed, and they weren’t sure he was going to make it in time. Her heart soared to see him. His dark hair was now mostly grey, trimmed close. He looked distinguished. She smiled at him.
“You look good,” she said.
He walked to her and swept her up into a hug. She buried her nose into his chest, smelling his familiar scent of Aqua Velva and mint gum.
“Me? You look like a princess.”
“You always know just what to say.” Felicity wiped a tear away.
“Hey, now. No crying on your wedding day.” Her father grabbed her hand and placed it on his arm. “We’re about to walk down that aisle. Are you ready?”
She nodded, trying to get her emotions under control. “Quite.”
He chuckled. “Then I think it’s time.”
She heard the faint strains of the song she and Aiden had picked, and she tightened her hold on her father’s arm. He opened the door and they walked out of the villa.
Chairs had been set up in the grass by the beach, and Felicity smiled as she saw Mabel curled up on one. Brittany and Amy stood grinning at her from the front, their purple bridesmaid dresses matching the one Grams wore. Aunt Lia nodded at her, dabbing at her eyes with a tissue.
And then her eyes met Aiden’s and her stomach dropped. It was a good thing she was holding onto her father’s arm or she might have tripped. Looking that handsome had to be a crime. His blue eyes bored through her as he stared at her. He mouthed the word, “Wow,” and her knees grew wobbly.
It was hard to concentrate on the ceremony because standing next to Aiden had her heart pounding in her ears. And when he slid the ring on her finger, she grew light-headed. This was it. They were getting married on the beach in Belize.
“You may now kiss the bride,” the minister said, and Aiden swept her into his arms. Mabel barked as she jumped down from her chair and Aiden chuckled.
“Mabel’s happy you said yes.”
Everyone laughed. And then he gave her a feather-light kiss that curled her toes. She pulled him to her and pressed her lips to his, making the crowd laugh and cheer.
And then it was done. She was married to her best friend. The man who knew her more than she knew herself. The man who finally proved to her that he would give up the world for her.
But the funny thing was, she didn’t want the world. She just wanted Aiden.
