“Exercise clothing. It will help me check the rigging better than this lovely dress will.”

“What about shoes?”

“I don’t need them.”

“Ah.”

Cadence smiled as an unmanned transport pulled up, and Raek tucked her in. Leska and Im-bar got in, and the vehicle began to move.

Raek flew ahead as they headed to the expansive property next door.

The gates swung open, and the automated unit turned and made its way down the drive.

Im-bar chuckled. “I think he really wanted to fly. It’s been a while.”

Leska smiled. “I don’t mind the armed escort.”

Cadence sighed. “I like the view.”

Leska snickered. “When you are more secure about this, I am going to give you such crap.”

Cadence laughed. “I am shocked you are holding back.”

“Well, I can’t really throw stones, so to speak.”

The vehicle lumbered to a halt in the drive, and Raek was talking to Salat. Raek gestured, and the doors opened.

He came around to help Cadence out and held her hand to introduce her to Salat. She smiled. “Hello.”

Salat inclined his head. “Khytten and the babies are through here. Is the scaffolding for you?”

Leska laughed from behind them.

“It is for my friend, Leska.”

“She’s the one related to Tirra.”

Cadence nodded. “Yes. My relatives are in the city.”

Raek said, “Cadence is Arcady’s sister. They do not get along.”

Cadence shrugged. “We have not seen each other in over a decade. We don’t know each other.”

Salat nodded. “Noted. Arcady and Tirra are both good friends of ours.”

Cadence nodded. “I understand. I don’t have anything against Arcady; I just don’t know her.”

Khytten was sitting and feeding one of her children, and she smiled in welcome as they walked toward her. She shifted and burped her baby before handing it over to a nanny and fixing her top.

Khytten got up and walked toward them. “Hello, Raek. Hello, Cadence.”

Cadence was wrapped in a hug, and she blinked in surprise. Khytten was in total harmony. Every part of her was moving in harmony. Cadence hugged her back.

Khytten leaned back. “Wow. You are very powerful.”

Cadence blinked. “Um, not yet, but I am getting there.”

“You and Arcady have a conflict?”
