I laugh once and grab my coffee. “Really? I think the list I gave was pretty easy.”

They look at each other and grin. “Who needs to go off a list?”

Oh dear God. This is going to be a shitshow. “Yes, who shops from a list when trying to get the other person what they want? Oh, I know, Santa?” I take a sip of the caffeine goodness.

Austin rolls his eyes. “Really, Aunt Devney, I’m not six. I know that Santa isn’t real.”

I choke on my coffee. “Sorry. I didn’t know . . .”

Sean laughs before bringing us back on topic. “Anyway, we agonized over what to get, but we ultimately decided we had to go big or just forego Christmas altogether.”

“Well, now I’m intrigued.” I sit up a bit and put the mug down. “What is it? A plane? A boat? Oh, maybe it’s the new video game I wanted.”

Austin rolls his eyes. “A plane?”

“Well, a girl can dream.”

They chuckle. “Well, a plane is involved.”

I look to both of them. “What did you both do?”

Sean scoops Austin up and carries him over to me. “Give it to her, little man.”

Austin extends an envelope. “Here.”

My heart beats a little harder as I take it from him. I have no idea what this could be, but they both seem extremely excited.

I lift the sealed lip, moving slowly and drawing out their obvious anticipation. “I wonder what it is.”

Austin sighs. “Rip it open!”

I laugh and do as he says. There is a card with Mickey on the front.

When I open it, it has three park passes to Disney inside.

“We’re going to Florida!” Austin yells and grips my hands. “We’re going to Disney and then to Universal and then we’re going to see the beach!”

He looks like he could burst from his skin. “This is too much.”

Sean shakes his head. “We could all use some sun. Don’t you think?”

I look out at the freezing, snow-covered ground and smile. “I think so.”

“Good,” Sean says and then pulls me to my feet. “Get packed, we leave tonight.”

“What?” I shriek. “Tonight?”

Austin laughs. “Sean and I packed our bags two days ago.”

“What if I said no?”

Sean and Austin share a look. “You? Say no to the two of us? We’re irresistible.”

Oh, now I’ve heard it all. “Yeah, we’ll see about that.”

“Too late to argue, our flight leaves at nine tonight and we head to the airport right after we go to Connor’s.”

I get to my feet and give him a kiss. “Thank you.”
