She sighs heavily. “He wants you to come here.” Charlotte’s eyes widen as she turns to me. “Right? You want to talk now?”

“If he can.”

“He can,” she replies without asking him.

“Angry Elf, do you read me? Over.”

She mutters under her breath, but I can hear it. “He’s going to see what the hell angry looks like.” Then she brings the walkie-talkie to her mouth. “Rowan, come back to the house so Crew can talk.”

“Angry Elf, this is Skittle Titties, do you copy? Over.”

Her face turns a shade of red and she groans loudly. Then she forcibly grips the communication device. “Rowan! I swear to God! You are going to taste the rainbow of your teeth if you keep this up.”

“Ten-four, Angry Elf. Message received. Over.”

Very slowly, she places the walkie-talkie on the table and turns to me. “It’s a good thing you’re here, otherwise, I might have to kill him.”

I laugh once, because what the hell do you say to that? “I could provide the bail money,” I offer.

“Would you? I mean, that might be all the incentive I need.”

“Although, I think Brynn would probably be angry if I helped her brother’s murderer,” I tack on, rethinking my strategy.

She shrugs. “She’s lived with him, I’m sure she’d understand.”

Rowan enters the house, a wide grin on his face. “Hey, Crew.”

“Rowan.”

He walks to his wife, pulls her in his arms, and kisses her. “Don’t be too pissed, babe. It’s my only fun now that I have double the work since merging.”

Charlotte huffs and then shakes her head. “Talk to your brother-in-law while I think of ways you can make it up to me.”

He slaps her ass as she passes and earns himself a middle finger.

When she’s gone, he turns to me. “What’s up?”

I launch into my speech about why I’m here and what I’m hoping for. I should’ve known the first two brothers were too easy.

While they were understanding and gracious, Rowan is . . . himself.

“Since I missed out on this the first time, I’d like to ask some questions before I consent.”

I lean back in the chair and nod once. “Ask away.”

Really, I can’t be pissed, because if this was me, I’d probably do the same. At least, I’d make him sweat it out and enjoy myself.

“Do you love her?”

“Yes,” I answer immediately.

“Will you always be faithful to her?” Rowan asks.

“Absolutely.”

Rowan’s eyes narrow. “Even when she’s annoying? She can be a pain in the ass. Especially with those freaking animals.”

“Even then,” I vow.
