“Let’s hope he’s not just recharging for another round. Anyway, I’m reading this book about a Hollywood heartthrob named Dash, who comes back to his hometown, and he sees this girl whose family owns a diner in this small townandhe’s her best friend’s brother. One thing leads to another, and they start hooking up, thinking it’s short term, but he’s totally in love with her and, ugh, it’s going to break my heart when he has to leave her. I can’t put it down.”

“And people say our relationship sounds improbable.”

“Well, you are the billionaire who fell for the small-town girl. Sort of unbelievable if you ask me.”

I walk over, pulling the eReader out of her hand. “I fell in love with you before I was a billionaire. Also, anyone who spends two seconds with you understands how the only thing that would be unbelievable was if I let you go.”

Brynn smiles softly. “Aww.” Then her voice shifts and gone is the sweetness. “But. You did do that.”

“I got you back.”

“Yes,” she sighs deeply. “I guess you did.”

“I was coming in here to switch out with you. Layla wanted to watch a movie.”

We both stare at our son who is now sleeping. Her eyes meet mine. “If we move him and he wakes . . .” Yeah, that’s the worry each night. “Go get her.”

“What?”

“Get Layla, we’ll put the movie on in here, curl up together, and watch whatever she wants.”

I kiss Brynn’s forehead and head out to grab Layla.

“Rin, can we watch—” She stops when she sees it’s me. “Hi, Daddy.”

“How about we all lay in bed and watch a movie?”

“Jameson, too?” Layla asks.

I chuckle. “Jameson, too. He’s nice and quiet, though.”

Layla sighs heavily and gets up. “All right.”

“That’s my girl.”

We head into the room where Brynn moved to the other side of the bed so we can all be comfortable and she can put Jameson in the side sleeper that attaches to the bed.

“What movie are we watching?” Brynn asks as Layla jumps up on the bed.

Layla heads right to her, sitting on her other side. Brynn wraps her other arm around Layla and kisses the top of her head. “Cinderella. I love it when the prince brings her shoe, and she dances with him. I hope one day I have a prince like that.”

Brynn smiles and her eyes find mine. “I hope you do too and I’m glad I found mine.”

“I’m pretty sure I found you.”

She shrugs. “We found each other.”

I climb into the bed with my wife and our two kids, push play on the movie, and smile, because there’s nothing else in the world I need other than this.
