Brynn looks down and then lifts her gaze to me. “She’s an amazing child and I adore her.”

“You have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now.”

Her eyes widen. “Crew.”

“What?”

“You can’t say that!”

I grin. “Why not?”

“Because . . . well . . . because.”

I chuckle, enjoying that I rattled her. I lean back in the booth. “Tell me more about the farm.”

“You probably know more about it than I do at this point. I’m sure you had a research team learn everything you could before you decided to work with Rowan,” she challenges.

She’s not wrong. My team is very thorough, and when I considered Rowan Whitlock’s farm and the one next door to help increase our organic milk production at Knight Food Distribution, we actually were going to choose Charlotte’s farm. But in the end, we liked that Rowan had more land and was able to scale up.

“I know a lot, but not the reason why your brother expanded a year ago.”

She sighs heavily. “Rowan expanded to upset Charlotte.”

I’m not sure I understand that. “Meaning?”

“Well, you know they were fighting for your contract. That wasn’t all they fought about. Charlotte’s sister dated—well, thought—she was dating Rowan. It ended badly and Charlotte literally hated him for hurting her sister. Rowan thought she was terrible too. It went on for years, this . . . animosity. Then, I don’t know, they went against each other head-to-head for your business and they somehow ended up . . .” She looks at Layla and then me, wiggling her brows. “. . . which led to real feelings and now a marriage.”

I didn’t realize there was that much history. When I met them, it was clear they weren’t exactly friends, but each spoke of the other’s farm in high regard and with respect. I never would’ve guessed they hated each other.

“And Asher is marrying Phoebe, who was his daughter’s nanny?”

Brynn gives a tight smile. “Yup.”

“Who also knows your ex who I’d like to destroy?”

“Same one.”

“Grady and Addison seem to be normal,” I note.

Brynlee laughs. “Normal? Please, those two are another story. However, each of my brothers found the other half to his soul. No matter how they got there.”

“And what about you?” I ask, not sure what the fuck I was thinking asking that.

“My story isn’t over.”

BRYNLEE

My brain is a mess. A big freaking mess.

He bought me a new coop.

Not just a small one either, the damn thing is huge. It has an automatic door, watering system, and large feed containers so it’ll keep mice out and I only need to refill it once a week.

Then, to top that off, he had the food storage adjusted so I won’t have to carry bags all over the place. They’ll stay dry and protected in an area inside the new chicken palace.

I wanted to cry. No one has ever done anything like that for me. I made one stupid mention and not only did he take care of it, he went above and beyond.
