What I didn’t anticipate was having to pack a bag and my passport.
I have no idea where we’re going.
I’m in my joggers and cut-neckline sweatshirt. Crew is wearing basketball shorts and looking delicious.
We pull up to the runway to his private jet and my eyes go wide when I see a familiar face standing at the red carpet to the plane.
“Really? My brother is flying us?” I ask Crew.
“He works for me.”
That thought makes me curious. “Does that mean he also works for me?”
Crew smirks. “Technically, no, but I’m happy to play along if it’ll make you happy.”
“Oh, it does.”
“Then by all means, have at it.”
He exits the car and opens my door. I place my hand in his and when I turn to grab our bags, the driver is already doing that. Right, we don’t do those things. Also, we don’t pack ourselves. About ten minutes after Crew’s announcement of our date, Ginny showed up with a large box that was for me but only to be opened when we reach our destination.
We walk over to where our plane staff is standing.
“Mr. Knight, Mrs. Knight,” a pretty brunette woman, who is maybe early forties and stunning, says as we approach.
“Jessica, thank you for filling in. I know it was short notice and I truly appreciate it. Please meet my wife, Brynlee,” he says with his hand on my lower back.
“It’s nice to meet you.”
“You too. I’m sorry if we took you from something.”
“Please don’t apologize. I’m happy to travel with you guys.”
“How’s Grayson?” Crew asks.
“He’s great.”
“And the Firefly Inn?”
Jessica smiles. “The Firefly is doing great. We hoped maybe you and your wife would’ve chosen it for the wedding. Willow Creek Valley is a beautiful place.”
Crew chuckles. “I should’ve, but we wanted to be married on the beach where we met.”
“I’m sure it was stunning. Are you ready to board?”
He nods and we get to where Grady is standing. I grin. “And you are?”
His gaze lifts. “Hello, Mrs. Knight, my name is Captain Whitlock.”
“I see, that’s a great name.”
“It is.”
I fight back a smile. “And how long have you been a pilot? You look awfully young and inexperienced.”
Crew laughs. “This is like when I was in Sugarloaf when you all chastised me.”
I look over at him and nod. “Isn’t it fun being on this side? I mean, right now, Grady isouremployee. He has to be professional and it’s killing him.”
