When we get outside, a stretch limo is waiting for us. “Holy crap. I’ve never been in a limo.” The back door opens, and Logan hops out, looking mouthwatering in a tux. “Dang, honey. You lookhandsome.”

I squeeze my thighs together, remembering what we did the last time we wore formaloutfits.

He pulls me to him and growls in my ear. “You look so sexy, I’m rockhard.”

“Logan,” I chide with a laugh as tingles shimmy between my legs. Fortunately, no one pays attention to us. Ethan is busy smooching his baby before he hands the little guy off to the babysitter so he can kiss hiswife.

I’m suddenly so glad Bev is watching Zach tonight. As much as I adore that boy, it’ll be nice to have the house to ourselves so we don’t have to keep our nighttime activitiesquiet.

Initially, I was worried about how Zach would take to me, given how his mother felt, but he’s been the biggest sweetheart from day one. Logan and Ethan got in touch with Samantha’s parents, and everyone agreed it was in Zach’s best interest if he lived with Logan, but he and Ethan decided to share custody. Because Ethan wants Zach to understand how much they both want him in their lives. Zach has gotten really close to Mila and Cody, so he goes back and forth between our houses. He now has two big families here who love him topieces.

We’ve been in counseling to deal with what happened last summer. Logan also realized he needed to work through some things that happened with his father, and I have a truckload of my own family issues to unload, so it’s been an important time of healing foreveryone.

Samantha faces a slew of charges and will likely get some hefty jail time. In many ways, I’ve made my peace with it. She has some serious mental health issues, and given what I’ve experienced with my own family, I only hope she gets the help she needs. Her parents expressed regret they didn’t heed the signs she was having trouble more seriously and offered to pay my enormous hospital bill, which went a long way to assuaging some of Logan’s fury over thesituation.

I’ve decided I’m not going to let any of that bring me down. Life is too short to hold on to anger. So even though I was nervous the first few times I stayed with Logan because his house had some bad memories, I try to focus on the positive. With our full home—including Zach, Rambo, and sometimes Bev—I don’t have much time to get scared about the past. I’m too busy enjoying thepresent.

Plus, Logan signed me up for Krav Maga classes, so I’m pretty sure I can kick anyone’s ass ifneeded.

Once Kat, Tori, Ethan, Logan and I are comfy in the limo, Brady hands us each a glass of champagne. He holds it up for a toast. “Here’s to living our best lives with our bestgirls.”

We cling glasses. I’m all smiles, enjoying being pampered and hanging out with my best friends when the limo stops and the dooropens.

“We’re here already?” I swear, we only drove five minutes. When I get out, I pause, not sure why we’re at our high school gym. The lot is so full, cars have parked along the sidewalk. “The gala ishere?”

“Yup.” Logan winks and tugs me behind him as we make our way up the frontsteps.

When we enter, there’s a huge sign that says,Welcome to the Enchantment Under the SeaProm.

I pull Logan to a stop. “Babe, we can’t go in here. We’re crashing someone’s prom.” He kisses me on the forehead and drags me in. I look to our friends, and they’re from grinning ear to ear. Huey Lewis and the News blasts through the speakers. “Aww. Remember this song? The Power of LovefromBack to the Future?” It’s a movie we’ve seen a million timestogether.

We stop in the middle of the dance floor, and Logan pulls me into his arms. I swear the whole town is here, everyone from Bart the butcher to Carol from the diner. Wait. Is that Silas and his girlfriend standing by the DJ? But then the lights dim, andEarth Angelstarts toplay.

“Baby,” Logan says against my ear as we sway to the music. “I have a surprise foryou.”

“They’re playing the soundtrack to thatmovie.”

He chuckles. “Yeah, maybe they are. It’s the first movie you and I ever saw together. It was raining that day, and you and Silas came over, and we watchedit.”

I lean back to look him in the eye. “You rememberthat?”

“I remember everything aboutyou.”

Hopping up on my tiptoes, I press my lips to his. I’m two seconds from going full make-out session with my boyfriend when the MC cuts into themoment.

“Can I get our prom king Logan Carter and his queen Joey Grayson up here for a second? They have an announcement tomake.”

Everyone starts cheering, and Ifreeze.

“Come on, Bitsy. They’re calling our names.” Logan gives me the biggest smile, and my heart beats tripletime.

Laughter spills out of me. “What did you do,Logan?”

We run up to the stage like two fools because this whole thing is crazy. When we get to the mic, I realize the MC is my old principal, Mr. McClusky, who pats us on the back before he stepsaway.

Logan takes the mic like he owns the place. “Hey, guys. Thanks for coming tonight.” He reaches back for me and drags me next to him where I blush furiously. He clears his throat. “Back in high school, I wanted to ask Joey to prom, but, long story short, I didn’t. And I want to rectify that tonight.” Turning to me, he laces his hand through mine and smiles. “Jo, I’d like to ask if you’d be my promdate.”

I laugh. He’s ridiculous. And allmine.
