I haven’t let myself fantasize about Baylee since high school, but fuck, she’s the only woman who holds any interest for me. Her and that damn pink underwear. I’ve never been much of a biter, but I’d love to sink my teeth into her round ass.

Then I’d slide that flimsy material down her thighs, part them, and settle between her legs. The thought of spreading her cheeks and running my tongue between them while she squirms beneath me makes my cock pulse.

Would she like that? I’d lick her asshole nice and slow while I worked two fingers into her wet little pussy. She’d moan and push her ass up while I rubbed her swollen clit with my thumb.

I erupt all over the tile with a groan.

Fuck, that was amazing.

I told myself a long time ago that hooking up with Baylee would ruin our friendship, but what if I’ve been wrong all along? What if we’d be great together?

After I finish my shower, I wrap a towel around my waist and step onto the fluffy floor mat. As I dry off, I come to my senses.

I shouldn’t think about Baylee like that. She’s a single mom now, which makes everything harder. Especially when I don’t know what my plans are. Look at the shit show that happened with Kira. I don’t wanna fuck things up with Bay. She means too much to me.

Ten minutes later, she sweeps through the door with Leo in one arm and a huge takeout bag in the other.

“Hey, roomie,” I call out like a nerd.

The woman looks frazzled. Her hair is windblown. Her cheeks are flushed. And she’s huffing like she just ran the two-mile. I rush over to her, which is mostly me wobbling because I feel off kilter after my workout. “Here, let me help.” I take the basket with Leo off her arm and set him on the dining room table. “Do you cart him everywhere like this?” He’s in a long, woven contraption with wide handles. Underneath the baby is a thick pad, so it holds the structure open.

She shrugs. “I don’t have one of those car seats that unsnaps from the base in the car. So yeah, sometimes, I use this if the distance isn’t far, but I usually wrap him to my chest.”

“But that other car seat would be easier for you?” It was one of the items I bought her before Kira cancelled the order.

“Yeah, but it’s okay. I’m just grateful he likes sleeping in this. I have some more baby stuff at my house that I need to get, like his Pack ’N Play. Actually, I’d better go get the rest of our stuff soon. My landlord gave me until Sunday night to clear out, and I don’t want him to get pissed and throw my stuff in the trash.”

“He’d do that?”

“I don’t know. I don’t want to test him. He’s already pissed at me for the back rent I owe. I feel bad about it, but I promised to pay him back. I don’t think he believes me, but I’m going to send him a check every month until I repay what I owe.”

Pride swells in my chest. I love this about Baylee. Is she stubborn? Fuck, yes. But she’s tough. Resilient. Tenacious. When times get hard, she digs her heels in. “Let me know when you wanna go.” My phone buzzes in my back pocket, and I set it down on the table next to Leo’s basket.

“Go where?” she asks as she unpacks our food.

“To get your things.”

“You don’t have to go with me.”

“Baylee, don’t make me out to be an asshole. If you go by yourself and lug all that shit, I’m gonna feel like a dick.”

“But are you supposed to be lifting heavy things?”

She has me there. I scratch my scruffy jaw. “What if we lift them together? We’re just moving baby stuff, right?”

Baylee nods. “Mostly, yeah. And some of my clothes.”

“How about this? I promise not to overdo it, if you promise to let me help.”

“I guess, but I get to veto anything too heavy.”

“Yes, ma’am.” She’s nuts, though, if she thinks I’m gonna let her haul heavy crap by herself. I’ll figure something out.

Wait. What’s that sound? Glancing at the table, I realize I accidentally accepted a call a minute ago.

Fuck. It’s Kira. And she’s yelling at me. Nothing new there. At least I’m not on speakerphone. I hit the “end call” button and turn it face down. I don’t need her up in my shit right now.

I’m just gonna pretend that didn’t happen. At least Baylee didn’t notice. I don’t want anything to mess up our vibe.
