She hoped it never melted.

Day two of snowmageddon, and it hadn’t let up at all during the night.
Shivering, Angela’s teeth clacked together like maracas as a big, scary man stared at her from the entryway. His judgy, impatient eyes looked her wet-self up and down. “I don’t need help taking my clothes off.”
“I didn’t say you did. Now come the fuck here so I can take them off you. If you insist on rolling around in the fucking snow...”
“I was playing, you grouchy shit.” She laughed, edging toward his stern face and tall body. Knowing his eyes had been on her while she built her snowman had kept Angela warm.
“Then you’ll do as you’re told while I make sure you don’t die of frostbite.”
“And he calls me the dramatic one in this relationship,” she told the cat and earned a pop on her ass from a hard palm. “For a self-professed asshole, you say the loveliest things sometimes to make my heart pitter-patter out of my body.”
“Yeah, well,” he said with a bored tone she knew was just his natural, caustic-sounding voice. “Hallmark lost out by not hiring me.”
Lawless wasn’t a natural hugger.
He hugged her back if she put herself in his arms, but he never sought a cuddle.
Operation Lawless Affection was still in effect and working well, she thought. Whatever he was doing, she’d hug him from behind and stroke that hard stomach of his. And he hardly sighed anymore.
So, when he touched her, it was always a good assumption sex would follow.
Imagine her disappointment when he stripped her down to the shivering skin, then carried her to the bathroom, where he lowered her into a waiting hot bath.
No sex followed.
He could have leaned over the bathtub and offered his dick into her mouth. It was the perfect height.
Angela’s disappointment was marginally rectified when he came through the bathroom door and handed her a mug of steaming hot chocolate.
“Aren’t you staying?” She called out, and he sent his stare over his shoulder. “I got things to do.” Ruiz things. He’d been tracking the man digitally for a few days now. She wanted him to drop it, so he didn’t get hurt. But that was like asking Lawless not to breathe. He’d fixated on Ruiz and now had to see it through.
It was a quality she loved in him, but feared too, because she felt as though Lawless didn’t know when to quit for self-preservation.
She’d lose her mind if anything terrible happened to him.
Sinking into the warm water, she stayed there until it put feeling into her cold bones.
When she was done, she dried off, pulled her hair up into a high ponytail, climbed into warm clothes and a pair of Lawless’ socks, and found him in the den.
Without words, she crawled onto the couch beside him and laid her head in his lap while he scrolled on a tablet. Operation Lawless Affection worked great when he stroked his blunt nails against her scalp.
Angela fell asleep right there and woke up hours later in the same place, but with a blanket over her. Smiling against Lawless’ thigh, she’d never felt more content.
Being locked in the house for days on end wasn’t bothering her as much as she feared it would.
But snowy days with Lawless were fast becoming her best days.

“Get over here and sit the fuck down on my face.”
Sloppy warmth flitted through her clit as she moved the laptop aside, climbed off the couch, and trekked over to him in the lazy boy chair. “Do you have to sound so aggressive?”
“When I want my pussy, yeah.”
