The noise he made around the last of the blunt sounded like a verbal smirk.Yeah, there are two manipulators in this relationship. Get used to it, darling psycho.
“Gonna fuck me every time I can’t sleep?”
“Sometimes I will. But I don’t want us defined simply by sex, Lawless. We can talk too if you’re having trouble sleeping. Or we can lie in bed. I’ll even let you big spoon me.”
He flicked the butt of the blunt onto the ground, it immediately burned out in the snow and turned his head to face her.
His deviousness was challenging in the best way possible. Lawless rarely had to say anything for her to feel their connection.
He challenged Angela constantly with stimulating conversations and debates, and then he dominated her endlessly until she thought she might expire from how turned on she became because of it.
He was so annoying, telling her things like, “Kiss me back, angel. I’m not playing around here. Don’t care if you’re at work.” Or even worse, “That look you got in your eyes ... I know what it means. I’ll deal with that later.”
But trying to get his inner feelings out was more complex than squeezing a milkshake out of a rock.
“This sexual attraction I feel for you is insane. It started slow, slithering over my skin. I don’t get these feelings, Angela. It’s not me.”
Worry locked up her throat, so her words were strangled. Was he working up to breaking up with her? Nah, that wasn’t it. “So you’re saying it’s my fault?”
“Yes.”
She huffed. “You’re a piece of work shifting the blame on me.”
She wasn’t mad, not at all, feeling the truth of his words bursting free, and when his hand came around the front of her throat as if about to dictate her into shutting up, Angela smiled and leaned forward, pressing her throat harder into his roughened palm. He couldn’t cut her loose even if he wanted to.
He might be confused about his new human feelings, but he was as stuck on Angela as she was with him.
They were a pair, made of the same material.
“You poor thing, so afflicted by these new feelings. Do you want me to drop to my knees and apologize?”
His grunt was pure sex. “You make me fucking crazy.”
“Don’t blame me for your psychosis, you were like that long before I was born.”
His eyes glinted and narrowed, and she had to fight to stave off laughing.
“You’re begging to be paddled.”
“Can I take my panties off? You ruined my last pair.”
The growl to come from his parted lips was one that both startled and warmed her all over.
“I’ll ruin them all if they get in my way.”
Her shiver this time had nothing to do with the fast-falling snow.
“Go back to bed,” he issued, looking out into the great white void.
Her hand moved to cover his thigh, and this time, Lawless’ voice was cold as the snow.
“Don’t be stupid enough to touch me right now. The consequences won’t be pleasant.”
She expected nothing else, so it didn’t come as a surprise. Her man probably left their bed because he was running scared, finding it hard to process falling in love. She kept the smile to herself. “You realize you throw out threats when you fear me and your feelings...”
His growl was so low.
Lawless was affected by her and what he felt.
