Cute little thing. And it only took him an hour of observation to see she suited him.
“You didn’t bring your man friend to the shindig?” An amused Snake asked, resting his elbow on the bar where Lawless was sitting. He arched a brow so dry and deadpan. “What do you think?”
Snake snickered even while he eyed his wife across the room like she was chocolate cake dipped in frosting.
Things had changed when he was away, but they’d stayed the same, too.
Thank fucking God, because he was tired of fixing his brother’s love lives when they fucked up. Snake and Hawk, in particular, he’d had to kick both their asses at one point. And what thanks did he get? Hawk rolled around with him on the floor, and Snake had wanted to kill him.
It was a tough job being the club manipulator, but sometimes it got his boys to places they didn’t know they wanted to be until someone gave them a shove.
Deep in thought, the squeal of a kid’s voice brought Lawless’ shaved head up, but it wasn’t Harper who held his attention for long, not when he saw who was strolling in behind her.
Angela locked eyes with him almost instantly, and she scowled and dragged her gaze away like he didn’t exist.
Smirking, he didn’t pull his gaze away.
“Angie not talking to you?”
“She’s sour. I told her to keep away from the casino and Benz.”
“Is that all it is?” His buddy asked as she sailed by, ignoring him, and hammered it home when she told Snake hi.
Lawless waited until she went by, then answered. “No, that isn’t all it is.”
“Thought so. You gonna fix it?”
Lawless emitted a long, shrill whistle and several heads turned. Angela’s included. He watched her hooded lids and the color on her cheeks, plus the anger in her eyes. “Come here.” He called out. And what do you know? She took one step as if she were on autopilot before she caught herself and flashed him the finger, then strutting away, leaving him chuckling.
Holy fuck. This wasn’t healthy.
This thing chewed on him.
But Lawless never claimed he was a vegan, did he?
“Tell her what you did,” Advised Snake, “then you’ll get your little buddy back.”
His little buddy.
His shadow.
His badass little monster.
A thirsty craving grabbed Lawless by the throat, and it had nothing to do with needing a drink.
“Beau?” He said without taking his eyes from Angela talking with Judge.
“Yeah?”
“You know how we had that dirty little secret for a while?”
They’d moved past the awkward stage. At least, Snake had. Lawless never felt that way. He could fuck in front of thousands and not get dick stage fright. But for a while, his friend had been in the closet about his bisexuality and submissive needs.
“What about it? Don’t say you wanna date me. My Winter would bust your balls off and make a pasta dish for dinner.”
Eyes hot as stars, he watched as Angela could not keep her gaze from him when she sneaked glances.
Sneaky little thing.
