Even if the answer was yes, Lawless couldn’t do anything about it.

Feeling the rage bubbling beneath the surface already in anticipation of Angela telling him she’d been fucking touched by Jay.

How would hefeel?

Who fucking cared? That didn’t matter.

He’d wanted her to get touched, to experience everything she desired.

But not by Jay.

This new possessive side of him was itching like crazy, and Lawless held her eyes.

When he saw her chin tilt, some of his tightness uncoiled because he could sense the answer, ready to spit out of her gorgeous lips.

And he smiled on the inside.

The badass was going to lie her tight little ass off.

“You want to know if Jay touched me, huh? If Jay put his manly hands on me. If we were more than boss and employee. Yes, he fucked me so good I couldn’t scream anymore. He fucked me until I passed out, and then we fucked some more. Best I ever had or ever will have. I’d rate him a 9 out of 10 for spontaneity.”

The bones in Lawless’ hands relaxed, and the breath he’d been holding exhaled quietly.

“Are you finished lying, or do you want to take a stab at some more tall stories?”

“I’m not lying.”

“Lie number two. You have a tell.”

“What?”

“Your throat pulse flutters.”

She slapped a hand to her throat, and he smirked.

“You were fifteen the first time you lied to me. When I asked if you’d been sitting in my Mustang, you told me no. And you appeared so guilt-ridden for lying, you never did it again. Until just now.”

She made a noise.

“What’s it like?”His brow arched in silent question. “Lording around in Hell. I’m assuming you own real estate there..”

Amused at the quick comeback. “It’s not bad. Gets hot sometimes.”

“I bet.” Then she popped to her feet, taking the dishes to the sink, where she rinsed off both and put them into the dishwasher.

Domestic. At least he wouldn’t have to run around after her now he lived here. Not that he gave a shit if she was a house slob. He’d drag a prospect over and make them clean the place.

He’d make Judge do it. It was the least the dipshit could do, for starters. But he still hadn’t landed on a fitting punishment for him yet.

“You have classes today.” Having hacked her schedule, he was aware of what classes she had. He wasn’t even sorry about scoping out her schedule, either.

She went to classes, ate at a café nearby, attended a spin class and a yoga class, and swam in the college pool. She liked the bookstore and a beauty place. There was not a lot of shopping on his recon days, but that didn’t mean she didn’t like to shop. And everything Angela did, she did them wearing AirPods, walking unaware of noises around her.

Lawless wasn’t a music fan, but witnessing Angela so enthralled in her music and not paying attention to her surroundings, he’d almost wanted to come out of his hiding spot to shake some sense into her.

Wasn’t that why he taught her how to shoot and fight before he went away? To protect herself.

“I can hear you thinking,” she snapped without turning around. And when she did, her face was an open book.
