So, in the event of a bloodbath, he would let his friend have the peace he so needed in his life and not tag him in.
“Your date nights are safe,” he answered in his even tone as he rose, and Snake followed suit, tossing bills on the table. They headed outside, where Hawk started the engine.
Lawless cast a smirk over his shoulder.
“Why would I kill Jay when I’m his boyfriend?”
TWO
“The regular psycho schedule.” - Lawless
To know a psycho was to be a psycho.
Lawless had always worn many hats to many people.
Thug.
Thief.
Entrepreneur.
Biker.
Hacker.
Enforcer.
Cat doctor.
Dominant.
Kinky fucker.
Aloof sadist.
The list was endless, and people got creative coming up with terms for him when he didn’t fit into a box of their choosing.
What Lawless instilled in most people was fear or lust.
Two halves of the same coin.
Lawless would step into some of those roles in the coming days, but while he straddled his favorite motorcycle and roared through the hundred miles to get back to Colorado, his mind was empty. Only the wind on his face and the thrum of the rumbling beast beneath his body. He even smiled once or twice.
Some four hours later, he pulled up outside of his apartment, in the same building as Capone and his now old lady.
He blinked, went to prison, and all his brothers got more old ladies and more babies.
Times were changing, and Lawless felt the stir in the air when he stepped down off his vintage Harley Davidson.
Keeping hold of the black half helmet by the strap as the SUV pulled in behind him, both brothers stepped out. Snake handed him the penthouse keys. “We got everything you needed for a few days, the power and internet turned back on, and a ton of grub in the kitchen. Oh, and your phone and other devices are up there too. You sure you don’t wanna come to the club to see everyone?”
“Not tonight. I gotta wash the prison stink off me first and catch some decent sleep.”
Lawless slapped hands with Hawk and then was grabbed again by the emotional fucker, who smirked.
“I’m not staying up all night texting, so get that out of your head.” He warned Snake with a half-smirk. Snake chuckled and turned to climb back in the truck before Lawless called out his name. His brother arched a brow. “It’s good to be back.”
“Damn straight. We’ll get drunk tomorrow.”
