“Who? Mack or Tom Cohen? Wait. It doesn’t matter. I’d kill to talk to either of them. Unfortunately, though, Tom never seems approachable like Mack does; he snubs the paparazzi.”
“Do you need celebrity aversion therapy, angel?”
Chuckling, she pulled a face at him. “I study all the time. A girl needs some vices, and following geeks on social media is mine. Shut up, Lawless. Can you really do that?”
Lawless cut her a side-stare, and she swore she felt the intensity in the toes that curled.
Could a stare bring on ovulation?
“Sure, if that’s what you want.”
Oh, my god.
Why did that sound like he’d give her anything she asked for?
Did she imagine it?
Clearing her throat before she lost her train of thought, she nodded, felt her face fill with heat. “Thanks, I’ll keep it in mind.” She said calmly while feeling giddy as a rabbit inside.
Their one kiss, spectacular and unexpected as it was, was two days ago, and now Angela was left wondering why it happened and if he intended to kiss her again.
She wanted to climb into his lap and maul him. Although she’d probably end up on her ass, Lawless didn’t look like the type who enjoyed being mauled.
He’d do the mauling.
Ugh, she’d be like a gazelle stalked by a wild animal. But instead of running away, she’d probably fall to her knees and assume the position.
Realizing her heart was going nuts, she inhaled slowly to erase those thoughts. She was trying to impress with her computer skills, not mentally writing fanfiction where a biker enforcer fell in hot lust with a girl who’d saved her heart for him.
Bet she’d get a Wattpad published deal with that.
Refocusing, she scrolled. “Who is Verónica Garcia?”
“Ruiz’s old lady.”
“Oh. Then she’s in deep with hubby dear, or he’s using her name for every business he/they own. I have found nothing he owns yet. Everything is in her name. Including a fleet of cars, several houses, a plane, and their kid’s private schools. Is he living on her dime?”
“Find out,” Lawless said simply.
“Would a woman be involved in kidnapping another woman to sell her for sex?” It seemed unthinkable to Angela.
“Not only women. Kids too.”
Angela shuddered, revolted to her stomach.
“I know I was surprised earlier when you said you’d...”
“Killed a man.” He filled in for her. Laser blue eyes watched her.
“Yeah, that. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you killed this disgusting pervert, Lawless.”
He snickered. “Good to know you can move your moral compass.”
“I know, right?” then something occurred to her, and her smile fell. “I’ve seen Ruiz in the casino with Jay a few times. Is Jay involved in all this?”
“He says not.”
“I never got the sex pervert vibe from Jay.”
