He would never be that boy again, easily pushed around, so fucking easy to control.

Now he did the controlling. He did the pushing.

Rolling a shoulder, he stared right back at her, eating up her loveliness. Even in darkness he saw color stain her cheeks, her hand went up to brush her hair nervously.

“It’s—it’s been a while.” She faltered finally. Her eyes took him in like he was cotton candy and she had a craving for sugar.

“How did you know where to find me?” he asked.

Hades thought he was over surprises. This one, seeing her in front of him in her slim skirt and kitten heels, came like a punch to the throat. Undecided if it were a good surprise. There was no getting around he was affected by her.

He’d never felt love for Dana, the emotion was void to him, but as all assholes were prone to, once something was his toy, it stayed his toy and he wasn’t well versed in sharing his fucking toys when he knew someone else was playing with them. So, he felt a sense ofattachmentto the women before him now, almost as if he …cared.

Ugly word. Nasty, useless word.

But that was impossible. Caring. Emotions. He saw well and good just what happened when some weak bastard vomited their caring out on the floor, they got trampled. His own mother was a pawn to a pervert for years all because she cared for his shit of a father and now look at her, she was pathetic, a shell of a woman who should be dead instead of living half of a life.

Caring was for fools and though his fingers itched at the very tips to reach forward and bring his toy closer, to inspect her, to see if she still smelled innocent and sweet in the dip of her throat, he didn’t do a fucking thing.

“I—er—I heard someone in the grocery store talking about you.” He scoffed derision, he could just imagine how that conversation went. No one had anything good to say about Hades and he was fine about it. “Then I drove by your house.”

That dump. His aunts were still there with his mom. He hadn’t checked in for a while and had no desire to change that.

“The lady there said I could find you here. I didn’t know you’d moved.”

“Why would you?” her face stained, he liked knowing he’d embarrassed her. It wasn’t Hades who was the outcast here. It was Dana. She was in his world, on his property now. She was the one sneaking around in the dark hoping no one caught her on the wrong side of town. How he could laugh at the switch.

Poor, little rich girl with her beautiful face, impeccable manners and giant rock dangling off her finger. If he didn’t know better he’d assume she’d wandered into the wrong part of town. But there was an expression, amid the shyness and awkwardness, that was utter determination and for some fucking reason that even Hades didn’t know, he was glad to see her and interested to know why she’d wanted to track him down.

“As I said, I’m getting married this weekend. Daddy wanted the wedding at home, I—I don’t live in Colorado any more, we live in Palm Springs, Zach plays baseball for the—”

“And does Zach the baseball player know you’re here with me in the middle of the night?” His voice was more sinister than normal, a hint of the old manipulative Kyle in the timber as he looked on and saw her recoil before she stiffened her shoulders and met his eyes straight on. The paleness rimmed in ice seemed to glow in the darkness, almost like Dana was a preying wolf.

He recalled what he’d liked about her. Besides the phenomenal blowjobs. She was a vixen beneath her shy exterior. Once he’d warmed her up to the idea of doing dirty things in secret behind her parents backs she was hungrier for cock than he’d given her credit for. It was mostly, always Dana who had initiated wanting sex.

Still, he didn’t understand why the fuck she was here now all of a sudden out of the blue. He didn’t believe in coincidence and a school reunion was out of the question and he guessed a wedding invite wasn’t it either.

Resting his hands on his hips, the leather of his jacket creaking, he waited for this answer.

“No. He had a game tonight, he’s flying in tomorrow with his family.”

“And you wanted a little catch-up with the guy who was the first to bang your brains out?” he didn’t hold his punches. Not anymore. He hit first. Even to sweet little things he’d licked from top to bottom.

Rather than shrinking, Dana gave a chuffed laugh.

Was that it? Was he fucking right? She wanted a last single girl booty call before she said I Do’s and signed up for the PTA and carpooling?

Fuck him.

He was so goddamn right he could taste it wafting over on the breeze. He shifted on his boots, one step, two steps, he was in front of her, making her neck crane back to look at him.

To her credit she didn’t move back at all, she stayed her ground and held his eyes. Feeling the heat and he tremor rising off her body, her suddenly had greedy hands to reach out and touch.

“Something like that, Kyle.”

“Hades.”

“What?”
